25 Kg RDX recovered in Jammu & Kashmir
Anantnag: A major tragedy was averted here on Wednesday when J&K police and Army detected 25 kgs of RDX from near the track at the Bijbehara railway station on Tuesday night, near Anantnag.
Anantnag railway line was inaugurated in October 2008.
The device was neutralised before it could cause any harm. Anantnag Lok Sabha constituency is slated to go to polls on April 30.
The seizure comes in the wake of reports of Taliban men infiltrating through Gurez. There are hundreds of militants amassed across the border and waiting to infiltrate to disrupt the Lok Sabha election.
Taliban intruders surrounded
Taliban fighters, reported to have found their way into the Kashmir valley through Gurez, have been surrounded by the Army. IB intercepts indicated that as many as 28 to 35 Taliban fighters may have sneaked into the Kashmir valley on the 16th of March.
The Army has reportedly cordoned off a 60km area around Gurez, located near LOC. The objective is to prevent any deeper infiltration, apart from catching the terrorists.
Media reports indicate that security forces have killed one militant while two soldiers may have been martyred in the operation.
The intercepts were of the militants of the LeT. Hizbul Mujahideen is also believed to be helping the Taliban in its bid to enter India. The commanders of Taliban reportedly held a meeting in Pak Occupied Kashmir about the infiltration.
Reports indicate there are hundreds of Taliban and other militants trying to sneak in across the LOC.
