Bangladesh Vs zimbabwe 1st ODI MatchBangladesh Vs Zimbabwe 1st ODI Match, From the depths of 62 for 6, Bangladesh were lifted to a competitive 186 by Mushfiqur Rahim and Dolar Mahmud’s 54-run partnership for the ninth wicket. Prosper Utseya’s rationale on deciding to field was “to keep it tight during the first 15 overs and try and pick up a couple of wickets” and, with the hosts 41 for 3 after that period, Zimbabwe had achieved that goal. By taking three more wickets before the 20th over Zimbabwe were firmly on top, but Mushfiqur’s half-century and Dolar’s late cameo gave Bangaldesh a decent target to defend.

Leading the charge for Zimbabwe was Elton Chigumbura, who with the new ball accounted for Tamim Iqbal, Junaid Siddique and Mohammad Ashraful inside the fielding Powerplays. A run-out and two wickets to Chamu Chibhaba in the 20th over left Bangalore six down and facing a crisis, but that was averted in quite stunning manner. Mushfiqur, who was at one end as Shakib Al Hasan Mahmudullah felt to Chibhaba’s military medium pace, didn’t hold back from putting the ordinary deliveries away.

Cutting and glancing his way neatly and at a healthy strike rate, 53 with Naeem Islam (20 from 47 balls) but lost Adbur Razzak soon after – well caught by a tumbling Utseya who had to then be carried off the field – and Bangladesh were 124 for 8. What followed was a good period of biffing from Mahmud, who tonked the seamer Kyle Jarvis for two fours and a six in the last three balls of the 43rd over. Cuttin, hooking and pulling with freedom, Dolar then trained his sights on Graeme Cremer, who was swung for consecutive sixes to bring the Mirpur fans to their feet.

The batting Powerplay, taken after 45 overs, brought about the end of a good partnership and didn’t last more than 11 deliveries. Jarvis was called on for his ninth over and got Dolar to smash his first ball – a rank full toss – to extra cover for an entertaining 30-ball 41. Mushfiqur brought up his fourth ODI half-centuries with successive boundaries off Jarvis but was last man out for 57, attempting a cheeky paddle scoop but picking out a diving Tatenda Taibu behind the stumps. Jarvis, after one poor over against Dolar, finished with 2 for 43.
