Bill of Abolish Ba Condition Approved by Cabinet

ISLAMABAD: Federal Cabinet on Wednesday approved to abolish the graduation condition for contesting in general elections.
The cabinet, met here at Prime Minister Secretariat with PM Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in chair, unanimously approved a bill aimed at abolishing the condition of holding at least a graduation degree for the candidature in general elections.
The bill would now be presented in National Assembly for legislation, says the channel.
The cabinet strongly condemned the recent inter-communal riots in Gojra and vowed to fully support the victims and affectees of the incident. It was decided in the meeting that the PM would himself visit the area and meet victims.
Cabinet members while expressing their grief on the incident vowed to protect the minorities in the country.
The cabinet also deliberated on the political situation of the country following the Supreme Court’s recent verdict against emergency and PCO judges, besides discussing the law and order, rehabilitation of internally displaced persons of Malakand division, ongoing power crisis and other issues.
