Bugti Death Anniversary, Blochistan Observe Strike
QUETTA: A shutter-down and wheel-jammed strike is being observed throughout Balochistan on the third death anniversary of former governor and chief minister of the province, Nawab Akbar Bugti.
Jamhori Watan Party and Baloch National Front gave the strike call whereas other Balcoh nationalist parties backed the call. Quran Khawanis are also organized at different places of the province on this occasion.
All the major business avenues remained closed in provincial capital Quetta and other major towns and cities of the province while the attendance in the offices and educational institutes also very thin than usual.
Strict security measures have been take throughout the province to avoid any untoward situation with heavy deployments of police and other paramilitary forces at sensitive points.
Meanwhile, gas pipelines were blew up with explosives in Kashmore and RD 238. The gas supply has been suspended in various areas of Punjab and Sindh, sources said.
In another incident, unknown persons threw hand grenade at Mastung telephone exchange; however, no loss of life was reported. Another hand grenade hurled at court road telephone exchange that exploded with a bang. No causality was reported in the incident as police have reached the scene.
