MOSCOW : Naomi Campbell to Appear on Russian New Year’s Show, Supermodel Naomi Campbell has flirted with novel writing and pop singing, but in her unlikeliest career move yet, she will appear Thursday on Russian state television to wish viewers a Happy New Year.
The British model, who has a Russian boyfriend, will appear as a guest on a New Year’s light entertainment variety show on Channel One television.
The all-night show, a fixture of New Year’s Eve celebrations in Russia which last year attracted more than a third of viewers in the country, runs around a speech by President Dmitry Medvedev and the chimes of the Kremlin clocktower.
In the show’s trailer, Campbell stumbles over a simple question: Asked in Russian whether this is her first New Year’s in Russia, she answers in English, “No, this is, yes, no, sorry,” before bursting into laughter.
A spokeswoman for the channel, Svetlana Doronina, would not reveal whether Campbell will speak Russian on the show.
Campbell is shown in a silver sequinned dress, seated next to her boyfriend, Vladislav Doronin, a businessman involved in real estate.
Their relationship was first reported in summer 2008, when British newspapers published photographs of the couple canoodling on a yacht.
The other international guests will include French actor Alain Delon and Greek pop star Demis Roussos, both of whom are popular in Russia.
Campbell has made appearances at charity events in Russia but has generally kept a low profile while visiting the country.
She has previously attempted to move away from modelling by publishing a novel, “Black Swan,” in 1994 and releasing a pop album a year later, both of which were poorly received by critics.

Blue moon 2009 and Partial Lunar Eclipse, New Year’s :- There will be a partial eclipse of the moon on New Year’s Eve, Dec 31. Because of its timing, it will not be visible in North and South America, but will be visible over most of Europe, Africa, and Asia including some parts of Pakistan.
The eclipse could be observed between 11:52pm on Thursday to 12:54am on Friday in Pakistan.
The event will also mark the second full moon of the month in North America, thereby garnering the title of “blue moon.” Unless unusual atmospheric circumstances come into play — such as widespread dust from a volcano — the moon will not be blue, however.
Since it is a partial eclipse, the moon will just brush past the darkest part of the Earth’s shadow, never becoming totally immersed. It will, however, be deep enough into the shadow that shading and reddish color should be visible.

Nazims to continue working till appointment of administrators
Lahore, Pakistan News :- Federal Minister for Local Government Abdul Razzaq Thaheem said Thursday that the condition of approval of amendment in Local Government Ordinance 2001 from the President is ending today. After that, provinces can make amendments any time and can appoint administrators, however, present Nazims will continue to work till that time.
The Nazims have announced to launch countrywide movement to save the local government system. Former Chairman National Reconstruction Bureau Daniyal Aziz said the local governments symbolize real democracy.
Three resolutions were unanimously passed in favor of present local government system during Nazims’ Convention in Haripur. The resolutions demanded for immediate elections while preserving the same system. It stated that appointment of administrators is clear violation of article 148 of the constitution. Therefore, Nazims will resist handing over democratic institutions to bureaucracy.
