WANA, Pakistan: Gunships Shell Taliban Positions in South Waziristan, Forces helicopter gunships pounding on the positions of militants in tribal region of South Waziristan amid reports of casualties and militants in Shah regions Khaisur wangi troops take control of Shah wangi Monday. 
The advance of troops continued in the hotbed of militants in the region of South Waziristan, the security forces. The military has taken control of the Shah wangi area after fighting with the militants.
There were unconfirmed reports of militants killed in Khairsur and Shah wangi areas.
A news agency quoted foreign intelligence sources reported that at least eight militants were killed in a fierce battle in Khaisur area, where they approached the troop positions.
The army said Sunday that 60 militants and six soldiers have died since the offensive began on Saturday.
The military offensive is focused on removing Taliban militants linked to Mehsud tribe.
Some 10,000 activists from Pakistan and about 1,500 foreign fighters are believed to operate in the region.
Accounts of residents and those who flee from Sunday suggested that about 30,000 troops pushing through South Waziristan from three directions of the face more resistance in the Swat valley.
Up to 150,000 civilians – perhaps more – have left in recent months after the army made clear it planned an assault, but about 350,000 people may be in the region.
