Income Tax Returns filing date extended to October 20

Income Tax Returns Date for filing extended to Oct 20, ISLAMABAD Pakistan : To facilitate the tax payer for filing/e-filing on Income Tax Returns, the Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has decided to extend the last date of filing of Income Tax Returns up to October 20, a senior official of FBR said.

According to source, FBR has been receiving various requests for extension of time for filing of Income Tax Return due to pre-occupation of tax payer/tax advisors in connection with the Holy month of Ramadan, Aitakaf, Umra and Eid related holidays.

It may be noted that no refund claim shall be proceeded till return is e-filed.

The FBR further clarified that no further extension in time for filing of income tax returns will be allowed.However, it is pertinent to reiterate that in the cases where income tax returns could not be e-filed for any reasons, hot copies of income tax returns can be filed by extended dates i.e. October 22, 2009, subject to the condition that in such cases returns or e-filed latest by November 30, 2009 otherwise the hot copies filed by the tax payers shall not be treated as valid return of income.
