Karan Johar-Back To Songs And Dances!

MUMBAI: One can’t expect Karan Johar to be sticking on to a particular genre in spite of plethora of successes behind him. After making a feel good bubble gum flick KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI followed by family drama KABHI KHUSHI KABHIE GHAM and a tale of extra marital affair KABHI ALVIDA NAA KEHNA, he decided to take a far more contemporary route and embarked upon a journey called MY NAME IS KHAN. However, he is sure that his next film would be a much lighter affair.

“I have given my three years, heart, soul and body to MY NAME IS KHAN. Now I would love to go back to songs and dances. I guess it’s the need of the hour for me”, states Karan Johar who did embark upon different productions like KURBAAN and WAKE UP SID in the interim period in the capacity of a producer.

One wonders if it is about returning to the roots for Karan. “Making a film is all about the state of mind and three years back I felt that I had to tell the story of MY NAME IS KHAN. Perhaps after making my ’song and dance’ film, I would get fed up again and make something else thereafter. However, as of now I am very clear that my next movie has to be a lighter affair”, Karan makes a declaration.

While Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol play the principal protagonists in MY NAME IS KHAN, the film also boasts of an array of supporting actors like Soniya Jehan, Jimmy Shergill, Zarina Wahab, Parvin Dabbas, Arif Zakaria, Navneet Nishan, Sheetal Menon, Arjun Mathur and child artist Tanay Chheda (seen in SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and TAARE ZAMEEN PAR). A co-production of Karan Johar and Gauri Khan, MY NAME IS KHAN is being marketed and distributed by Fox Searchlight Pictures and releases all over on 12th February 2010.
