Tareq and Michaele SALAHI, the cast of a reality show called “The Real Housewives of DC”, crashed on Tuesday at the state dinner at the White House.
Facebook photos the couple Tareq and Michaele SALAHI SALAHI posing with Joe Biden Vice President and Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel said the couple had access to close to some of the Washington elite, without actually being on the guest list. The Secret Service said the couple was screened for weapons and that the President was never in danger.
The Secret Service is examining its own security procedures after determining that a Virginia couple, Michaele and Tareq SALAHI, managed to sneak into the state dinner Tuesday night at the White House although not on the list guests, agency spokesman Ed Donovan.
President Barack Obama was never in danger because the party crashers through the same security screening for weapons as the 300 people who actually invited to the dinner honoring the Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said Donovan.
Donovan confirmed the identity of the couple. The Washington Post, for the first time on nights out, said the Salahis were well known in the horse country of Virginia-set.
The Secret Service learned about the security violation Wednesday after an investigation prompted by the media’s online Salahis’ claims to have attended the private event, “Donovan said.
One of the many published photos of dinner in SALAHI Michaele Facebook page shows the smiling couple with a Vice President Joe Biden. In other photos, they appear alone or together with White’s chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, Washington Mayor Adrian Fenty, CBS News anchor Katie Couric, Rep. Ed Royce, R-Calif., And three Marines in dress blue.
Donovan would not comment on whether the couple had been contacted by the Secret Service, how long they were in the White House grounds and other details of the investigation.
Office of Professional Responsibility Agency was reviewing what happened. An initial finding indicated that a checkpoint did not follow proper procedures to ensure the two were on the guest list, “Donovan said.
“Importantly, it went through all the security checks – the magnetometer – like all the other guests did,” Donovan said. And he said, Obama and others under Secret Service protection had its usual safety data with them at dinner.
