Lahore, Pakistan : People of Pakistan will celebrate Eid Ulfitar on Monday as the Shawwal moon has been sighted in various areas of Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan, the chairman of central Ruet-e-Hilal committee Maulana Mufti Muneebur Rehman formally announced on Sunday.
Reportedly, the Shawwal moon has so far been sighted in Hyderabad, Badin, Tando Bago, Hingorja, Mirpurkhas, Quetta and various areas of Sindh and Balochistan.
Officials of Quetta’s zonal Ruet-e-Hilal body have confirmed the sighting of moon while talking to newsmen in the provincial capital.
The meeting of central and zonal Ruet-e-Hilal Committees held today to decide sighting of the Shawwal moon for celebrating Eid-ul-Fitar across the country except some parts of NWFP.
Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman chaired meeting of the central body here while such meeting also held in all the provincial capitals except NWFP.
The NWFP government has barred the zonal Ruet-e-Hilal body from meeting in Peshawar as the provincial government considers Saturday’s decision by a private Ruet-e-Hilal body as enough for the moon sighting announcement.
In Lahore, Mian Naeem-ur-Rehman chaired the meeting of zonal RH body.
The formal announcement regarding sighting of the Shawwal moon for Eid-ul-Fitar observance will be made by Mufti Muneeb in a press conference following the meeting of RH bodies.
