Murtha Dead at 77, According to the recent news, media reported John
Patrick Murtha dead at the age of seventy three years at Virginia Hospital on February 8, 2010 afternoon. It is said that Patrick Murtha dead because of complication of his bladder surgery. Patrick Murtha had undergone a surgery in late 2009 to remove his bladder, but he could not survive the complications arising from the surgery. It is said that Murtha dead body will be taken to his home in Johnstown, Pennsylvania where the funeral services will be held, however no final decision has been made about this.
Patrick Murtha was a politician and a member of the Democratic Party. He was the member of U.S. house of representative from Pennsylvania’s 12th district from 1974 to 2010. Previously he was a marine serving the Marine Corps from 1952 till 1990 and resigned as Colonel. He won two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his services in Vietnam. He was elected to serve the house of representative in 1969. In earlier 2000, Patrick Martha first voted for the war in Iraq, but later in 2002 he called for the withdrawal of American forces from Iraq.
Martha has won the John F. Kennedy Courage Award, the Distinguished Service Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. The later two are known to be the highest honor of Pennsylvania.
Martha career is marked with controversies and scrutiny, but nevertheless he was the most admired colleague and will be remembered for his contributions and efforts for the public at large and for his powerful law making.
