National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Guillermo formed far out in the Pacific Ocean on Friday.
Guillermo’s maximum sustained winds reached near 80 mph (130 kph) with little further strengthening expected, the U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said. It was expected to weaken Saturday as it moves over cooler water.
At 8 a.m. PDT (1400 GMT), Guillermo was centered about 1,180 miles (1,900 kilometers) west-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California peninsula.
