NWFP Several Districts Celebrate Eid Today

PESHAWAR: Eid is being celebrated in most parts of the Frontier province today, following yesterday’s unofficial Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announcement, while in Dera Ghazi Khan and some tribal areas of Punjab for the first time in country’s history today, Eid is being celebrated after 28 days of fasting besides Pashtoon dominated Lahore Gulberg ‘B’ Block, like Frontier and other areas, celebrating Eid today.
Most of the Frontier province including Peshawar is celebrating Eid officially. The largest main Eid congregation was held in the city here, where Federal Minister, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour besides members NWFP assembly and the government officials offered Eid prayers.
On the other hand, most of Swat is fasting today, while in Swat city Mingora Police Line area, Eid is being celebrated today.
According to provincial government announcement, Eid in D.I. Khan is being celebrated in police Line only, while the majority is fasting. D.I. Khan Tehsil Paharpur, Parwa and Kolachi are also observing fast today.
Kohat, Hangu, Karak, North and South Waziristan, Bajaur Agency, Khayber Agency, Charsadda and Naushehra celebrating Eid today, but the majority in Tank and Parachanar fasting today.
North Waziristan’s Headquarter Miranshah celebrating Eid today with great zeal and religious fervor, as Eid prayers were held at Miranshah, Mirali, Razmak and Dattakhel, where the faithful prayed for Islam and the country’s security.
Mansehra is also not celebrating Eid today. Most parts of Lower Dir are fasting, although some celebrating Eid today.
