Pakistan beat India in South Asian Games

DHAKA: Pakistan hockey team defeated India in a sensational contest in the final to win a gold medal in the South Asian Games here on Sunday.

Both teams played 1-1 draw in the allotted time and Wasif Siddiq made the only goal for Pakistan.

However, no team could score any goal in extra time and the match was decided on penalty strokes.

Pakistan made four against three goals and won the title.

Pakistan Hockey Federation president Qasim Zia has announced a cash award of Rs50,000 each for all the players and the management.
