PM contempt notice: politicians swarm SC

ISLAMABAD: Several politicians hailing from the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and coalition partners Thursday accompanied Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani to Supreme Court (SC) on his appearance in contempt notice before seven-strong bench hearing National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) Implementation case.
Various government officials and political leaders who have arrived before the hearing began include Awami National Party (ANP) Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, President Asif Ali Zardari’s brother-in law Munawwar Talpur, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, Qamaruz Zaman Kaira, Chudhary Shujaat Hussain, Makdoom Amin Fahim, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majid, Punjab Governor Sardar Muhammed Latif Khosa, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Mehdi Shah, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Khursheed Shah.
Ashiq Awan told the media that PPP jialas offered their blood for the reinstatement of the judges, adding Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto also nurtured this institution with her blood.
Former Federal Information Qamaruz Zaman Kaira said the dreams of those who want the institutions to clash with each other, will be dashed to pieces.
The ANP Chief Asfandyar Wali Khan said he accompanied Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif in a similar case before; now, he has arrived here with PM Gilani. TrendPK
