PM Gilani Chairs High-level Meeting on Security

ISLAMABAD: A high-level meeting is currently underway at Prime Minister House to discuss law and order and the recent wave of terrorist attacks in the country.
Key figures of the ruling alliance and the major national political parties, ministers and heads of intelligence agencies and security were present at the meeting being chaired by PM Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.
Those who were present at the meeting included the Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, leader of the opposition in the National Assembly, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, President Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam), Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, National Party Awami (ANP) chief Asfandyar Wali Khan, Deputy Coordinator Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Dr. Farooq Sattar and others.
Chief of Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani briefed the meeting on the security situation in the country and the Pakistan Army’s preparations for an offensive against Taliban militants in the tribal region of Waziristan, the channel added.
