PPP always respects courts, PM Gilani tells NRO Implement bench

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani said he cannot even think to put Supreme Court (SC) to ridicule.
The PM Gilani appearing before a seven-strong bench of the apex court, noted, ‘We always respected the court; accordingly, I decided to appear before the court as soon as I received the contempt notice.’
He added, “This is an indication of the court’s respect that I appeared before the court in person.”
“All allies came along with me to show respect to the court. We earlier also appeared before the court and served jail terms too,’ he said speaking to the court on the rostrum.
“No judge ever had complaints against me. We act upon the law in complete accordance with the Constitution,” he maintained.
‘I appeared before the court during five years,’ he added noting Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Begum Nusrat Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto always appeared before the courts.
Impressing upon the court that he did not intended the contempt of the court by not writing a letter, as President enjoys immunity under the Constitution, he told the court saying he acted in compliance with the Constitution. TrendPK
