ISLAMABAD: The President Asif Ali Zardari has extended petroleum levy ordinance 2009 on Saturday, which will be implemented immediately, Geo news reported.
According to extended ordinance, government will sustain Rs.10 per liter on petroleum products as levy charge.
It may be mentioned here, in order to replace carbon tax with petroleum development levy on petroleum products, president Zardari on July 9 issued petroleum levy ordinance and it was to remain effective till November 8, 2009, which has been extended further, letting government keep charging Rs8 billion annually on petroleum products prices in terms of petroleum development levy.
Following the extension of ordinance, it will be tabled in parliament for ratification, sources said.
