Rehman Malik Terms Indemnity Under NRO As ‘Justified’
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Rehman Malik, insisting on the justification of NRO, which sought withdrawal of cases against politicians, has said the cases withdrawn under NRO were justified and indemnity provided to politicians was need of the hour.
He said the NRO was an agreement among politicians, which aimed at provision of relief to politically victimized leaders.
This Malik stated in an interview with a US television channel and the participants of a huge mass gathering here in Islamabad.
He denied tendering his resignation over mere allegations, saying, I don’t deter political cases neither am I afraid of criticism and I possess strong
“A total of 8442 cases were withdrawn under the NRO and there were only 10 cases in which the accused belonged to Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP),” Malik said after attending a march aimed at promoting sectarian harmony during Muharram-ul-Haraam.
The minister said that government respects the superior judiciary and will implement its verdicts in letter and spirit.
To a query he said that Pakistan is fighting the terror war for its own sake and will achieve success in its bid to root out militancy from its soil.
