Mass Effect’ movie; keyboards in ‘Rock Band’

This not-so-cryptic hint seems to be telling us something about Rock Band 3. Hmm, could it be that the game will feature keyboards?
If you download the demo of Green Day Rock Band, released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 today, you’ll see this teaser screen, which indicates that vocal harmonies and keyboard gameplay are on the way for Harmonix’s next music game.
Hollywood Reporter. An item on the publication’s Heat Vision blog reports the film is still in the early stages of development, and Mark Protosevich, who worked on I Am Legend and Thor, could end up the movie’s writer. For those unfamiliar with the franchise, the Mass Effect story features Commander Shepard attempting to stop a group of alien machines from destroying the universe. The latest chapter in the franchise, Mass Effect 2, was released in January.
– Today marks the release of the Green Day: Rock Band demo on Xbox Live, but players might find a teaser tied to this download more intriguing. Joystiq reports users will spot an image touting Rock Band 3, with instruments icons such as microphones, a guitar, bass, drums and piano keys, which could suggest the debut of keyboards in the series. Rock Band 3 is slated for release this holiday, and developers Harmonix will likely have more details on the game at next month’s Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.
Instruments available to players are guitar, bass, drums or vocals as they hit the road as either an aspiring superstar solo act, or for the first time in game genre history take on the true collaborative and challenging nature of music as they form a band and jam together in multiplayer action from home or around the world.
