SHC Ten New Additional Judges Take Oath

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) ten additional judges have taken oath administered by the Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Usmani here today.
SHC approved judges’ strength tallies 40, but until yesterday, there were 15 judges only, of them, merely 8 judges are working, while 7 PCO judges stand defunct. Following the oath ceremony today, the number of operative judges has increased to 18.
Justice Shahid Anwar Bajwa, Justice Rukhsana Ahmad, Justice Malik Ghulam Sarwar Khorai, Justice Ahmad Ali Sheikh (president Larkana SHC Bar Association), Justice Ali bin Adam Jaffery (brother of Justice Ali Hassan Jaffery), Justice Hajan Dad Pejwani (president Sukkur SHC Bar), Justice Irfan Saadat Khan, Justice Aqeel Ahmad Abbasi, Justice Munib Akhtar (son-in-law of former federal minister Khalid Anwar) and Justice Tufail H. Ibrahim (son of former Judge Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim) were included among those who took oath today.
Some legal community leaders boycotted the oath taking ceremony in protest against not considering for appointment those judges, who had refused to take oath under PCO—Justice Rashid Ahmad Kalhor, Justice Zafar Ahmad Khan Sherwani, Justice Arshad Siraj Memon and Justice Salman Ansari.
