South Waziristan Operation Concluded: PM Gilani

LAHORE, Pakistan News: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said South Waziristan security operation has been concluded and now the drive against militants in Orakzai tribal region under consideration.

Talking to media persons after addressing the convocation of the GCT University Lahore on Saturday Gilani said the prisoners except those involved in heinous crimes being released in Balochistan, while general amnesty in the province was also under consideration.

Replying a question about arrest of five US nationals, Gilani said no person has been above the law of the land.

He said his government was determined to repeal 17th constitutional amend and implementation of the Charter of Democracy.

Earlier, addressing the GCT University convocation Prime Minister Gilani said the government wants to highlight the liberal identity of Pakistan in the world. He said Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto gave unanimous constitution to the country in 1973 and his government will restore the document in its true shape.

The prime minister also announced 100 million grant for renovation of the GCT University building and Iqbal Hospital.
