The Chicago Cubs, absolutely desperate for an influx of enthusiasm and offense, have decided to call up top shortstop prospect Starlin Castro.
Castro, who was hitting .376 at Class AA Tennessee with 20 RBI, will replace Ryan Theriot at shortstop. Theriot, who is hitting .341, will move to second, pushing Mike Fontenot to the bench.
The Cubs, 13-16, swept in three games in Pittsburgh, will make room on the roster by sending Chad Tracy to Triple-A Iowa.
