Stay Order Appeal On Suger Prices Rejected By SC

ISLAMABD: Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) has rejected an appeal of stay order against the ruling of Lahore High Court (LHC) on sugar prices.
SC has also ordered to produce statements of sugar prices, taxes and loans of sugar mills during past three years.
A three member bench of SC, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry conducted the hearing of the sugar case.
The counsel of the appellant All Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (APSMA) filed the petition in the higher judiciary to issue a stay order against LHC verdict, and fix the interim sugar rate at RS45/kg till the settlement of the case, of which the SC rejected.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry ruled to follow the LHC verdict till the settlement of the case.
Meanwhile the hearing was adjourned till September 24.
