Sugar Rs 40 Per kg Order Not Enforced

LAHORE: Government of Punjab announcement to ensure supply of sugar at retail price of Rs 40 per kg could not be enforced in the province.

The commodity being sold in open market in Punjab and other provinces of the country between Rs 45 to 50 per kilogramme.
The officials have advised the consumers to submit complaints against overrates of the commodity.
Sugar has disappeared from the markets in Lahore after issuance of Rs 40 per kilogramme notification, while sugar being sold between Rs 47 to 50 in some localities of the provincial capital.
Government of Punjab has appointed over 1000 magistrates to check the price.
The sugar being sold in Hyderabad at Rs 47 per kilogramme.
NWFP has not yet received federal notification about the sugar price, which is being sold by the shopkeepers in Peshawar at Rs 50 to 55 per kilogramme.
