Suger Price Maintains Rs.40/kg Ordered By SC
ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court of Pakistan has maintained the decision of the Lahore HIgh Cour, fixing per kilogramme price of sugar at Rs 40/-.
The court has called the details of bank loans given to the sugar mills owners from State Bank and a report of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) compiled three years ago.
The sugar mills owners had challenged the suo motu action of the Lahore High Court in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
The Chief Justice during hearing of the petition directed the State Bank of Pakistan to provide details of the loans borrowed by the sugar mills owners to the court.
The Chief Justice has also directed Chairman NAB to submit its report on the sugar scandal compiled two years ago.
The court warned of contempt proceedings if sugar mills fail to comply to the court verdict.
The hearing later adjourned till Sep. 24.
