KARACHI: Doctors and paramedical staff of Karachi’s Abbasi Shaheed Hospital on Thursday continued their protest against non-payment of salaries for the seventh consecutive day, TrendPK reports.
A large number of doctors and medics from Institute of Heart Diseases, carrying placards and banners, rallied from Abbasi Shaheed Hospital to Nazimabad-7 roundabout and staged a sit-in there, causing severe traffic jam in the area for many hours.
The hospital crew members, who closed down OPD in Abbasi Shaheed hospital earlier, demanded of the provincial government to immediately release their salary of five months.
The OPD closure has caused serious problems for patients arriving for the treatment as no government authority have so far assured release of the doctors’ payments. TrendPK

KARACHI: Doctors and paramedical staff of the city’s Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and Institute of Heart Diseases are on roads to protest over the salaries, TrendPK reports Thursday.
The crew of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital kept main thoroughfare of Nazimabad-7 till the filing of this news post, causing the traffic holdup. Meantime, Institute of Heart Diseases, in protest against the non-payment of their salaries for four months now, is all protest at Waterpump Chowrangi, causing massive gridlock on all converging roads.
The doctors and paramedical staff, after closing down the OPD, are demanding for the raise in salaries, posing serious troubles to the patients and their attendants with frequent scenes involving exchange of hot words being witnessed.
Demonstrators warned to continue their strike until they are assured by the high-ups over the issue. TrendPK
Terror reigns Karachi as another 21 killed
As many as 21 people, including a private TV channel reporter and retired major, have been killed, while 10 got injured in the ongoing wave of targeted killing in Karachi, trendpk.com reported on Friday.
A retired army major Iqbal Kashmiri, an employee of Civil Aviation Authority, was killed in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Unidentified armed persons opened fire on a bus in Orangi Town as a result of which 7 people got killed including a 7-year-old girl. The dead bodies have been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital of Karachi. The deceased have been identified as M Ali, Jahngir Alim Dua Fatima, M Ishaq, Noor Hussai. A person got death in Liaquat Abad.
While in Liaqatabad, a private channel report has gunned down by unidentified persons. The funeral prayer of the assassinated reporter has been offered.

Karachi: Swine flu patient dies

Karachi trendpk.com: A patient of swine flu died in Karachi on Saturday and Health Department has also verified his death.
According to Sindh Swine Flu Cell Dr Soraish Kumahr, 48-year Iftikhar Ullah, a patient of swine flu was admitted in Abbasi Shaheed hospital on 29th of December. Iftikhars blood and other tests were sent to National Institute of Health but he died on late Friday. The doctor said that the reports have declared that Iftikhar was a patient of swine flu. On the other hand, doctors have decided a complete check up of Iftikhars family.

KARACHI: At least 10 people have been killed in different areas of Karachi in the latest row of violence on Monday.
According to police, dead bodies of two youths were found near Landi Kotal Chowrangi in North Nazimabad area. Both victims were shot dead by unknown armed culprits and they were identified as Qari Hammad and Shoaib. Their corpses were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
Earlier today, Ahsan, 21 and Fawad Jan, 23 were shot dead near Fawara Chowk in Dhobi Ghat area. The Killing of the youths created unrest and anxiety in the area.
Dead bodies of Awais, 25 and Rizwan 24, were recovered by the police from a house in Bhittai Abad area. The police have told that according to the initial investigations it appears that both murders were caused by a personal enmity.

Bus overturns on Super Highway; three injured

KARACHI: A bus with 40 passengers aboard overturned on Super Highway in Karachi, leaving three passengers seriously injured.
According to Motorway Police, the incident took place near Cattle Market. The bus rolled over following a collision with a truck coming from the opposite direction.
Three passengers, including the bus driver, sustained serious wounds. They were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital in Karachi.
Following the accident, traffic on the highway witnessed a huge traffic jam, which lasted for about an hour. Trend Pk.
2 more dengue patients die in Karachi

KARACHI: Two more dengue patients have died in Karachi on Saturday. The death toll climbs to 15 in Sindh.
Naila, 22, resident of Orangi Town was admitted in Jinnah Hospital while Noor Mohammad, 40, resident of Orangi Town was under treatment in Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
The Sindh Health Department has confirmed that 1,639 have been found positive with the virus while 2,974 people with dengue symptoms had been brought to the different hospitals of Sindh.
SAMAA learnt that 197 dengue patients are under treatment in different hospitals of the province including Karachi.
The health department said dengue patients have been found in Karachi, Hyderabad, Sanghar, Badin and Sukkur. SAMAA

Unidentified persons killed Maulana Muhammad Amin of Jamia Binoria Karachi in the area of SITE.
According to police, in Norus Chorangi, an the area of SITE, unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire on the car of Maulana Amin due to which he killed on the spot. Dead body of Maulana Amin was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed hospital. Maulana Muhammad Amin was teacher of Hadees in Jamia Binoria. Jamias spokesman Ghulam Rabbani said that Maulana Amin was receiving threats from unidentified persons and police were informed about the threats. CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has condemned the killing of Maulana Amin and asked the CCPO Karachi to submit report of the incident.

Fresh targeted killing claims nine lives in Karachi

KARACHI: At least nine people were killed in different firing incident as the targeted killing once again gripped the metropolis, said sources Monday.
According to police, two men were shot dead in Malir and Ibrahim Hyderi, while one was killed in Gulshan-e Maymar and a 22-year old man identified as Dildar was gunned down in Korangi.
Three people including two brothers Nadeem and Noman and their friend Ansar were targeted in North Karachi.
An MQM activist Farhan was killed in Yousuf Plaza.
Separately, a 40-year old Tanveer Abbas Rizvi was critically injured in Rizvia Society, who was immediately taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
The local residents, in protest, burnt tyres and blocked the road in Rizvia Society.
