India: 22 die in road mishap

In a devastating accident, 22 passengers were killed and 23 injured when their bus fell into deep trench in Utterkhand.
The accident took place when the bus fell into the deep trench due to over speed. Rescue officials pulled out 22 bodies from the bus while 23 injured passengers had been shifted to a local hospital.

KARACHI: Three overspeeding buses ran into each other in Karachi, leaving one female passenger dead and injuring four others.
The accident took place near Mehran Hotel on Shara-e-Faisal late Friday night.
A nearby jeep was also damaged in the collision.
Farzana, 30, died on the spot while four other passengers identified as Mushtaq, Shamini, Akram and an unidentified man, suffered serious injuries. They were immediately shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
Meanwhile, police also reached the scene and arrested all three drivers. Trend Pk
Gilgit: Jeep of a wedding fleet falls in ditch, 4 including groom killed
A jeep of a wedding fleet fell into a ditch near Gilgit due to which 4 people including the groom got killed.
According to police, the jeep was going to Denyur from Hunza Valley on Karakoram Highway, when it fell into a ditch near the area of Rahimabad due to which 4 people including the groom got killed and 1 person got injured. The injured person was rescued from the site and shifted to hospital. This accident took place because of the bad road condition.
Two killed in road mishap in Chobara
Two persons burnt to death, while another managed to escape when a car caught fire after a collision with a truck in Fateh Pur, a suburban area of Chobara, Dunya News reported on Thursday.
The accident took place when a car bumped into a truck leaving a petrol pump near Fateh Pur. Resultantly, the car caught fire which killed two men namely Qadir Bakhsh and Irfan while another Akram managed to escape after breaking the window mirrors.
Quetta: Flood affectees truck overturns, 6 killed
In the area of Dasht near Quetta, a truck full of flood affectees going to Shikarpur overturned, killing 6 people including 2 children and 3 women instantly; where as 22 people also got injured.
The injured persons of this incident have been shifted to Quetta Civil Hospital. Ten people among injured are stated to be in critical condition. Most of the injured include women and children only. Two children, three women and the truck driver died instantly after this tragic incident. The persons killed were residents of Rindgarh and were going to their family village in Shikarpur when this accident took place. The injured were taken to civil hospital on Edhi Ambulances and private cars.
Kotli bus crash death toll at 17

KOTLI: At least 17 people, including six women, were killed and over 30 injured on Friday after a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine in Kotli district of Azad Kashmir.
The accident took place near the town of Kotli, 50km south of the regional capital Muzaffarabad. The driver lost control of the bus at a turn and it fell into a deep ravine.
According to reports, some 50 passengers were aboard the bus when it rolled into a ravine.
Out of 30, four of the injured are reportedly in critical condition. All the injured have been shifted to a nearby hospital, where emergency has been declared. SAMAA
Four drowned as bridge collapses in Skardu
SKARDU: At least four persons, including two girls and a woman, died having been drowned into a river after their car sank when a mini-bridge collapsed in Josai locality in Skardu district on late Tuesday, Geo news reported.
Commissioner Baltistan Division Dr. Sajid Chauhan said the car was heading to Galtari from Skardu when it met the deadly accident.
The accident took place as the car was going across river through a bridge hanging over a river when it (bridge) collapsed due to breakage of supporting rope, which in turn, leaved four persons drowned including a mother, her two minor girls the poor driver.
Rescue teams have been dispatched to recover bodies from river, sources said.
70 dead in India train crash

KOLKATA: The death toll in India’s West Bengal train accident has gone up from 60 to 70 while over 90 passengers are said to have sustained injuries.
“A total of 70 persons, including three railway employees, have lost their lives in the accident when three rear coaches including one luggage van and two unreserved general second class coaches of the Vananchal Express were affected,” an Eastern Railway said in a statement.
The accident took place at around 2 am on Monday, Jul 19 when the Sealdah-bound passenger train, Uttarbanga Express rammed into another passenger train Vananchal Express.
Earlier the death toll was put up at 49 while the number of injured was estimated to be between 130 to 150.
Fuel tanker explosion kills 200 in Congo: governor

KINSHASA: More than 200 people were killed and 100 injured when a fuel tanker overturned and exploded in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo late on Friday, a local governor said on Saturday.
“Some people were killed trying to steal the fuel, but most of the deaths were of people who were indoors watching the (World Cup) match,” said Marcellin Cisamvo, governor of south Kivu province, where the accident took place.
He said some U.N. peacekeepers were killed as they tried to prevent people from going near the tanker, but could not give further details. A U.N. spokesman said he was trying to check the report.
