KARACHI: The Sindh, Punjab, Azad Kashmir, eastern parts of Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa and eastern parts of Balochistan would receive monsoon rains, at times heavy during the next week starting from August 2, a weather advisory said here on Sunday.

Nawaz urges govt to address people sufferings
MURREE: After extensive discussions with his senior party leadership here today PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif criticised the government for not doing enough to reduce sufferings of the people.
He was briefing the journalists after the advisory body meeting.
PML-N chief said that rulers are focusing on to save themselves rather than working for reducing pains of common man.
Nawaz took strong exception of NRO-benefited ministers and stressed the PPP government for taking austerity measures in its ranks.
Commenting on the upcoming budget, two-time prime minister, Nawaz Sharif asked for a people-friendly budget.
He demanded strong action against perpetrators behind targeted killings in Karachi and Balochistan, killers of Akbar Bugti and those responsible for May 12 mayhem. PML-N supremo asked the government to implement the verdicts of Supreme Court in letter and spirit.

Australia warns citizens to avoid Thailand

SYDNEY: Australia on Friday urged citizens to reconsider any plans to travel to Thailand, warning of further violence after an Australian was injured in escalating political clashes in Bangkok.
The foreign affairs department issued the travel warning as it confirmed that a 26-year-old Australian was hospitalised after being wounded in a grenade blast in an elevated railway station late Thursday.
“We advise you to reconsider your need to travel to Thailand due to the recent deterioration in the security environment caused by widening political unrest and civil disorder,” the advisory said.
“There is a strong possibility of renewed violent clashes in Bangkok between demonstrators and security forces.
“These clashes could involve the use of lethal force and could occur at any time,” it said, warning Australians to stay away from protest sites in the Thai capital.
Australian Benjamin Rowse from Melbourne was injured in a grenade blast in a Skytrain station and was recovering in hospital from minor injuries, a foreign affairs spokeswoman said.

UK Halts Indian Student Visa Applications

The UK government has announced suspension in taking visa applications from North Indian students.
The UK officials said as many as 13,000 visa applications have been submitted by north Indian students. The UK high commission in India Richard Steig has said that wrong usage of visa would not be allowed, adding that the ban was temporary. Britain has also suspended receiving of visa applications of Bangladeshi and Nepali students.
