KARACHI: Pakistan’s Cricket Board has suspended the contract of wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider after failing to make contact with him in the wake of his departure for England.
“The contract of Zulqarnain Haider has been suspended for violating its terms and conditions,” the PCB said in a statement on Wednesday.
The statement also said that the PCB had so far failed in its efforts to contact the player.
Zulqarnain fled the team’s hotel in Dubai on Monday, hours before the fifth and final one-dayer against South Africa, and flew to London.
The 24-year-old said he feared for his safety after being ordered to cooperate with match-fixers. AGENCIES

In all seriousness, the Internet is going nuts with rumors Bobby Brown has passed away. A chunk of the rumors seem to be stemming from Twitter, where users are reporting he succumbed to lung cancer at the age of 41 (his actual age, so there’s an iota of plausibility there). The speed at which these rumors are spreading is just more proof of how quickly the crowd mentality picks up steam when social networks are involved.
Besides an arrest warrant being issued in August of last year after failing to show up at a Mass. court, Mr. Brown has been largely absent of headlines. His last album, Forever, came out in 1997. His name didn’t even get any traffic when Lin Yu Chun’s cover of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” Maybe this is the resurgence Bobb-o needs

Nov 10 Is The Day Most Brit Women Start Christmas Dieting:Today is the day when majority of Brit women will start dieting to get in shape for the annual Christmas party in the office, according to a survey.
The poll of 3,000 women revealed that six out of 10 women choose November 10 as the day to begin dieting in a bid to fit into their glitzy outfit.
While the average dieter aims to lose 10lb, but one in 10 will skip the odd meal in a bid to reach their target.
Fourteen per cent buy their party outfit in a size too small thinking they will fit into it by the time the big event arrives.
But more than half of these women will have to buy an emergency outfit after failing to lose the weight in time.
However, much to their agony, 21 per cent of women put all the weight they lose back on by the New Year.
A spokesman for British Lion eggs, which carried out the research, advised women to be careful when trying to diet.
“Simply cutting out food won’t work. The best way to lose weight is to eat sensibly and have three balanced meals a day, particularly breakfast,” the Daily Express quoted him as saying. (ANI)
