Lahore: 13 killed in Urdu Bazaar suicide blast

At least 13 persons have been killed and 52 injured as a suicide bomber blew himself up at Urdu Bazaar Lahore on Tuesday evening at a time when a large number of people were gathered at Karbala Gamay Shah and Data Darbaar to observe Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and Urs of Hazrat Data Ganj Bakhsh (R.A).

According to our correspondent, 3 policemen are also among the dead. Rescue teams immediately reached the spot and started relief activities. The injured were shifted to Meo Hospital Lahore where emergency was imposed after the blast. Situation of most of the injured is stated to be critical. Cars and motorcycles were also damaged in the blast. Panic and fear prevailed among the people gathered at Data Darbaar. Police cordoned off the area and asked the people to clear the area to avoid any other untoward incident.

CCPO Lahore Aslam Tareen while talking to trendpk.com has confirmed that it was a suicide blast and the blast was occurred during checking of a suspected bomber.

TANDO JAM, News Trends: A bomb blast damaged railway track at Detha near Tando Jam town of Sindh on Tuesday morning. No losses of life reported in the incident.

Baba Fareed shrine opened for visitors

Pakpattan: Blast at Baba Farids shrine; 7 killed

A bomb blast occurred at the shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid Gunj Shakar at Pakpattan, which killed at least 7 people, including 2 women, and injured over 20 others.
According to the eye witnesses, after the Fajar prayers two persons parked their motorbike next to the Sharqi (eastern) Gate of the shrine, and right after ten minutes a huge blast took place.
The explosive material is said to be planted on the motorbike. The sound of explosion was heard across the city, while ten shops located next to the shrine were also completely destroyed.
According to security officials, the blast took place at 6:05 am. Soon after the blast, people managed to shift the injured persons to District Headquarter Hospital where most of them were stated to be in critical condition. Emergency has been declared in DHQ Hospital.
Initial police reports suggest that the terrorists, who allegedly planted the explosive material to a motorbike, were aged between 35-40 and looked like Punjabis, wearing shalwar kameez, chaddars and white joggers.

Pakpattan: Blast at Baba Farids shrine, 6 killed

A bomb blast occurred at the shrine of Hazrat Baba Farid Gunj Shakar due to which 6 people got killed and more than 20 others were injured. Police has taken control of the shrine and has closed it for the devotees.
According to the eye witnesses, after the Fajar prayers two persons parked their motorbike next to the Sharqi Gate of the shrine, and right after ten minutes a huge blast occurred. The sound of blast was heard in whole of the city and ten shops located next to the shrine were completely destroyed. According to security officials, the blast took place at 6:05 am. Soon after the blast, people managed to shift the injured persons to District Headquarter Hospital where most of them are stated to be in critical condition. Emergency has been imposed in DHQ Hospital. Police claims that explosive material was installed on the motorbike which was triggered with the help of a remote control.

Nation observing Quaids 62nd death anniversary today

President Asif Ali Zardari in his message to the nation on the death anniversary of Quaid-e-Azam said that the best way to pay homage to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah is to strive for achieving the objectives for which Pakistan was created as a separate independent homeland for the Muslims of sub-continent.
President Zardari said for ensuring egalitarianism, social justice and opportunities for all, there was a need to immediately rehabilitate and reconstruct millions of lives that had been devastated by the floods throughout the country.
He said, For ensuring constitutionalism, we must ensure that the constitution is given only by the elected representatives of the people and not imposed on the people by anyone else.

2 prisoners killed in blast in Mach jail

At least two prisoners were killed in blast in Mach jail, Dunya News reported on Saturday.
According to sources blast occur near security towers. According to deputy jailer Ghulam Muhammad blast occurred when prisoners were deploying explosives between security towers.
Sources said that firing was also heard in the jail after the blast.

Death toll in Quetta terror attack mounts to 54

QUETTA: At least 54 people were killed and over 150 were injured when a suicide bomber blew him up in a rally held to express solidarity with the Palestinians in Quetta on Friday.

According to the details, the bomber exploded himself in the middle of the Youm-e-Quds rally at Meezan Roundabout, killing at least 54 people and injuring scores of others.

SAMAA reporter Noor Ilahi Bugti and cameraman Aijaz Raisani are also among the injured.

Immediately after the blast, the dead and injured were shifted to the Civil and Combined Military hospitals.

The hospitals’ management has appealed for blood donations. Out of 150, 50 are said to be in critical condition.

Later, security agencies cordoned off the area and initiated investigation.

ICC vows to root out cheats, preserve game’s integrity

LONDON: Cricket’s governing body vowed on Friday to do whatever necessary to root out cheats and preserve the integrity of the game after suspending three Pakistan players over match-fixing claims.

International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive Haroon Lorgat told a news conference that the case was now the subject of a criminal investigation and spoke of his “extreme disappointment.”

“We will do whatever we can to preserve the integrity of the game,” he added.

The three players: captain Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir had been suspended by the ICC on Friday on “various charges,” the body’s anti-corruption chief Ronnie Flanagan said. He declined to detail the charges.

“We have come to the conclusion that they have a case to answer,” said Flanagan. AGENCIES

Blast rocks Yaum-ul-Quds rally in Quetta, 9 killed

QUETTA: Nine people were killed, over 50 were injured when a blast detonated at a rally held to express solidarity with the Palestinian people in Quetta on Friday, sources said.

According to sources, Yaum-ul-Quds rally, comprising of hundreds people was taken out at Meezan Chowk, Quetta, when an explosion went off right in the middle of the rally, killed at least nine people while 50 others were injured.

SAMAA reporter Noor Ilahi Bugti was also injured in the blast.

The deceased and injured are being taken to Civil Hospital.

The nature of the bomb was not known yet.

“No adequate security arrangements were made on the routes,” said sources.

Firing was also heard after the blast.

Rallies are held across Pakistan every year on the last Friday of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan to support Palestinian
