It’s June again, and by now the script is getting awfully familiar. Kobe Bryant is in another NBA finals, providing the kind of star power the league relies on to make this must-see TV.
LeBron James? He’ll be on TV, too, pouring his heart out to the familiar guy in suspenders.
What? Oprah’s couch was unavailable?
The King on CNN’s “Larry King Live” should draw respectable ratings, too, if only because all of Cleveland will undoubtedly take time off from singing his praises to listen to his pronouncements. They’ll dissect every sentence he utters, rewind the DVR and listen again and again.
Thanks to King’s publicists, we already have a hint of what he will tell the people of Cleveland. It’s not much, just tidbit that might keep their summer from being ruined just as it was starting.
The city, it turns out, isn’t so bad after all, James says: “It’s comfortable. I’ve got a lot of memories here.”
Why those few words carry so much importance, of course, is that come July 1 the player who made Cleveland semi-cool will have a chance to flee for the Big Apple or any other place with an NBA franchise. They’re even more important because, since being unceremoniously ousted from the playoffs, James has said nothing about his future plans.
Not when Cleveland’s elite got together to sing a song imploring him to stay. Not even when Cleveland’s own Iron Chef offered to go to his house once a month and cook a meal for family and friends.
It matters that much in Cleveland. The very soul of a much maligned city seems to be at stake.
This wouldn’t play in LA. Then again, James isn’t playing in Los Angeles this June, either.
Bryant is, however, for the third straight year. That by itself is a remarkable streak, even if you subscribe to the theory that Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom help make up a far better supporting cast than Mo Williams and Shaq.
If the Lakers win this one — and the wise guys in Vegas have made them the favorites — Bryant will wear a fifth championship ring and likely will be part of conversations matching him against Michael Jordan as one of the game’s greatest players.While question marks remain over Bynum’s fitness for the series, Celtics coach Doc Rivers said he was not considering switching rotations or changing his game plan.
“We’re not going to worry about whether he’s healthy or not,” Rivers said. “Players tend to be healthy once the Finals start no matter what their injury status is. We’re viewing him as 100 percent and a factor in the series.”

Drake furthered his case for being the coolest rapper in the game today, after revealing that he’s not too upset with the fact that Thank Me Later had leaked to the internet. In the age of modern music and rampant illegal file-sharing, album leaks are inevitable, and Drake seemed to recognize that.
After reports of the Thank Me Later leak surfaced, Drake took to Twitter to express his feelings.
“I gave away free music for years so we’re good over here,” Drake’s tweet said. “Just allow it to be the soundtrack to your summer and ENJOY! JUNE 15th!” We went to Kingston,” the 23-year-old singer explained. “We went to this ‘hood. They call it the ‘gully’ side. It’s bad out there, real bad. They had ‘Young Money’ sprayed on the gates, ‘Drake and Wayne,’ ’cause I came to shoot the video out there. I’m talking about you drive by people’s homes, they had ‘Drake,’ ‘Young Money,’ ‘Drake, Welcome Here,’ ‘Drake We Love You’ — crazy sh–, man. It was so crazy. This dude was like, ‘Original Weezy tha God! You tha boss! Weezy tha God!’ It’s crazy. They love us, ’cause we show love out there.”
The Kanye West-produced “Find Your Love” is the second single from Drake’s debut release, which drops on June 15.

When we first heard that Kelly Cutrone and her BFF Justine Bateman were debuting a web-based talk show, we were insanely excited. But as the weeks (and episodes) of “Wake Up And Get Real” wore on, we have to admit, we were a little disappointed and kinda bored. Some of the episodes are certainly funny, and it’s entertaining to watch someone “famous” like Cutrone and Bateman shoot the shit (for lack of a better word) about the minutae of their lives — like how they love their lawyers and what Bateman does to gophers on her L.A. property — but for a show that describes itself as “a talk show that would express the views that aren’t on THE VIEW,” we were hoping they’d tackle a few more weighty and debate-worthy issues.
Well, now they have. We woke up yesterday morning to see that Bateman had uploaded an episode captioned, “Justine talks about her ‘older face’ and how The Haters can ’suck it’.” And it might be one of the more awesome monologues on aging naturally we’ve ever heard. To paraphrase, Bateman talks about how, as a young actress in her teens and twenties, she felt that her round, wholesome, and pretty face didn’t reflect who she was inside. She used to dream of looking like Anna Magnani, Isabelle Huppert, and Charlotte Rampling, and finally, she says, she feels her face accurately represents who she is.

I was rooting for him to throw it because it would have been interesting. However, I think I like the ultimate outcome even better. I have no vested interest in Armando Galarraga actually throwing a perfect game other than wanting Dallas Braden to look less impressive.
I do have a vested interest in umpires getting more calls right. If that means more use of instant replay, I am all for it. This ending can only help generate interest in expanding the use of instant replay in baseball. This is one of the few instances when I am hoping for the media outrage machine to go into overdrive. “This isn’t ‘a’ call. This isn’t — This is — This is a history call,” Joyce said. “And I kicked the (expletive) out of it. And there’s nobody that feels worse than I do. I take pride in this job, and I kicked the (expletive) out of it, and I took a perfect game away from that kid who worked his (butt) off all night.”
Despite the call, Galarraga finished with the first complete game and first shutout of his career — a one-hitter — as the Tigers beat the Indians, 3-0, in the second of three games.
“That’s the nature of the business, that’s just the way it is. The players are human, the umpires are human, the managers are human, the writers are human,” Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. “We all make mistakes. It’s a crying shame. Jimmy’s a real good umpire, has been for a long time. He probably got it wrong.”
Following the play and immediately after the game, Leyland and most of the Tigers players — most notably Cabrera — were yelling furiously at Joyce. The crowd vociferously booed him, realizing the call on the field was incorrect. After seeing a replay postgame, Joyce apologized to Galarraga.

Just when I was feeling like the oldest mom at play group, another celebrity pushing the “elderly” line helps me feel better about myself! Kelly Preston just announced she’s pregnant with a miracle baby at age 47.
When I was pregnant with my 5th, I read one of my medical sheets and one line said ‘advanced maternal age’. Another in bold words said, ‘Elderly’…. really? I asked the nurse if I was really elderly, and she said anyone who is 35 or older gets that label. 
Here’s the cute, soon-to-be-growing family .
The news marks the end of a devastating period for the Travoltas, which began with the death of their teenage son Jett last year and ended with an airport tragedy in Maine last week, which claimed the lives of the family’s two pet dogs – who were run over by a service vehicle while they were being walked after a flight.

Paul Pierce appeared to be posting very confident, questionable material on Twitter on Tuesday, but there is confirmation that his account was hacked into.
One tweet showed up immediately after the game, and it became pretty obvious it wasn’t Pierce’s work when another occurred when he was on the podium during his press conference. And while it may have appeared to be ‘The Truth’ speaking the truth, it was hard to believe he really would have posted “Anybody got a broom?” May. 19 – 9:57 am et The reporter picked up on it and asked Dwight Howard in his press conference about it, as Howard said, Am “I want to comment on that?” Pressed for a comment Howard said: “Pride comes before a fall. Just to know.” We must be humble, stay focused. Pride comes before a fall. Just to know. “Paul Pierce used Twitter for the trash talk after Game 2 of the NBA Eastern Conference finals.
How bizarre this series has been the Boston left Orlando on Tuesday night with a 2-0 lead in this best-of-seven series. Sitting in an almost silent Amway Arena yesterday morning, talked Paul Pierce one of his favorite things – to hear once he fans in reverse. Would not you pay cash for the 17-year-old Paul Pierce to see a video of the wily codger com-intensified.

SmashBurger actually sounds like a place I would enjoy. Unfortunately, however, there isn’t one in our vicinity. Probably the best burger place I’ve ever eaten is Red Robin, with Five Guys Burgers and Fries coming in second. I like burgers, but I like them to be moist and not greasy. Very few burger places can fit that bill.

The incident happened at the end of a 13-yard run by running back Tim Hightower. Harris was on top of Lutui at the end of the play, and referee Ed Hochuli was just feet behind Harris.
It’s another bizarre incident in a bizarre season for Harris, who was benched for the game at Cincinnati two weeks ago.
Harris has a de-escalating roster bonus in 2012 that has already been reduced to $6.5 million. The bonus is tied to playing time and Pro Bowl appearances, and Harris stands almost no chance of hitting the playing time threshold of 74 percent for this season. That’s going to be a nearly impossible figure after he missed one entire game and was kicked out of the very beginning of another one.
Harris faces potential discipline from the league over this, a penalty that will likely come in the form of a fine.
We’ll see if Harris is around to answer questions about the incident after the game.

It will be a sunny but very chilly out in NYC. Beginning at 8 a.m., streets in the vicinity of the parade formation area will be closed to prepare for the celebration.
Fortunately plenty of extra trains and ferries are scheduled. Metro-North will run three additional Hudson and Harlem Line trains to/from Grand Central for fans who want to attend the parade.
Alex Rodriguez, Matsui and the rest of the team will be swimming in a sea of confetti and congratulatory cheers at Battery Place at around 11 a.m., before going north to Chambers Street and ending at City Hall Plaza for a few victory remarks. Mayor Michael Bloomberg will present the Yankees with the keys to the city.
Though there is limited space for the ceremony and tickets are required, a huge screen will be placed near the City Hall for the public to watch.
The city’s last ticker-tape parade honored the Giants when they captured Super Bowl XLII. The said spectacle cost around $331,000, all but $24,000 of which was covered by NYC & Co., the city’s marketing arm.
For those who are not lucky enough to attend the festivities, there are still options. A lot of TV and radio stations will broadcast the event live and it will also be streamed online on numerous websites. You can watch the Yankees Parade 2009 live online (live stream video) here.
