Ultimatum Not in my Dictionary: Nawaz Sharif

Pakistan Muslim League (N) chief Nawaz Sharif has said the word of ultimatum was not in his dictionary and he didn’t give any ultimatum to the government.
Addressing a press conference in Raiwind, Nawaz said he is pleased that the prime minister has given positive response to his agenda.
He said Pakistan economy going down day by day. He said, “my agenda is prosperity of the nation.”
Gilani’s phone to Nawaz
Political leaders said on Monday that Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani’s telephone to PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif had eased political situation and described it as a democratic process and positive development.
Information Secretary of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Fauzia Wahab told VOA, “I believe we need the same atmosphere. If we want our country to make progress and weed out extremism and terrorism, we should unite otherwise we cannot achieve our goals.”
She said that the development would be good for the country, not only for Punjab but also for the Centre and added “We should remember that our survival is in democracy and powerful democratic institutions.”
About the possible appointment of PPP leader Latif Khosa as Punjab Governor, she said though she had not received any notification in this regard. If he is appointed, it will be a positive step, she said.
“I believe Latif Khosa is a well-known person of Punjab. Secondly, he has a great say in his own lawyer community,” she added.
Chairman of Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Raja Zafarul Haq said that Gilani’s phone to Nawaz Sharif would calm the political situation and perhaps the government started taking measures for the betterment of people.
A political analyst Professor Rasool Bukhsh Raees described the reconciliation between the country’s two major parties as a good omen for the nation and the country.

JAKARTA: US President Barack Obama makes a much-delayed homecoming of sorts to Indonesia on Tuesday, seeking to engage Muslims and cement strategic relations on the second leg of his Asia tour.
Obama is flying from India, the world’s largest democracy, to Indonesia, its most populous Muslim-majority nation, mixing diplomatic symbolism with a search for new export markets to boost the lagging US recovery and jobs growth.
The president will return as an adoptive favourite son, after spending four years in Indonesia as a boy with his late mother, though he will have little time for tourism in the middle of a nine-day, four-nation tour of Asia.

Judges mull over 18th Amendment verdict
An important meeting of the judges of the Supreme Court was held today for final consultation over the verdict of 18th Amendment.
Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry led the meeting which was attended by all the judges of 18th Amendment case. The Supreme Court had reserved the decision after recording the arguments of all sides. However, registrar of the Supreme Court Dr. Hussain didnt tell the agenda of the meeting.

Pak-India delegations meet as secretary level talks ended
ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Pakistan-India delegations is underway at the conclusion of one-on-one meeting between Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir and visiting Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao.
The meeting will finalise the agenda of Pak-India foreign ministers meeting, which will be held in July.
Sources said Nirupama Rao will hold talks with Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi today. Indian High Commission will host a reception for Indian delegation in which Pakistani officials also invited. Terrorism, water and other issues will be discussed during the meeting.

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary level talks between Pakistan and India, scheduled for June 24 here can pave the way for revival of stalled dialogue process between the two countries if both the countries will show seriousness and commitment for revival of talks.
Although terrorism will certainly be high on top of the agenda, but both the countries want to include all the subjects of their concern so that their leadership could not lose political support at their home country.
Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao will arrive here tomorrow to lead Indian side to meet her counterpart Salman Bashir on June 24 to prepare the agenda for the foreign ministers talks being held here on July 15.
The secretary level talks between the two countries are the follow up of the important meeting held between the Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and his Pakistani counterpart Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani in Thimphu, Bhutan in April this year on the side lines of SAARC summit.
Trust deficit between India and Pakistan will also be an important subject that will be included in the agenda for the talks between the foreign ministers.
Although India is not calling this foreign secretary meeting a “composite dialogue” but Pakistan has no problem to change the name and satisfied that India has accepted Pakistan”s offer to start “dialogue” process.
The foreign secretary level talks will be prep work for the July 15 visit of foreign minister S M Krishna to Pakistan.
The Indian side has many things in mind to bridge “trust deficit” and these proposals will be put forward to the Pakistan side to include in final agenda for FM meetings.
Trial for the seven Mumbai accused which is pending in the Pakistani courts will be an important issue, which will be highlight by Indian side along with the terrorism issue.
Although both the countries have joint anti-terror mechanism but both the countries are not satisfied on the working of this mechanism.
As Indian side will like to include terrorism, while Pakistan will include the Indian interference in Balochistan and the long standing Kashmir issue along with water dispute for the agenda for the foreign minister talks.
