LHC annuls notification of Lahore CCPO appointment
LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) declared the notification of appointment of CCPO Ahmed Raza Tahir as null and void, Geo News reported Wednesday.
It should be mentioned that LHC’s Chief Justice Khawja Muhammed Sharif yesterday directed the government to withdraw its notification for the appointment of CCPO Ahmed Raza Tahir.
The court warned Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to take back his government’s notification for the appointment of CCPO Tahir by tomorrow (i.e. today); otherwise, the court will take action.
But, no action was taken by the Punjab government, on this, the court declared null and void the notification regarding the appointment Tahir as Lahore CCPO.
Supreme Court Expels Petitions in PCO Judges Case
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan expelled petitions regarding judges’ case affected by July 31 verdict, after completing the hearing of maintainability of the appeals.
A 14-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Muhammed Chaudhry heard the case of petitions of former judges of the higher judiciary. The counsels of former judges completed their arguments on the maintainability of their petitions.
The SC has accepted the unconditional apology by PCO judges.
Later talking to newsmen, lawyer of the former Chief Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar, Ahmed Raza Qasuri said that a review petition would be filed within two weeks.
