ANP to celebrate Independence Day in KPK on Aug 15

PESHAWAR: For the first time in the history of Pakistan, Awami National Party (ANP) has announced to celebrate Independence Day in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on August 15 by hoisting the national flag at the highest point in Peshawar, TrendPK reported late Sunday.
It is pertinent to mention here that the rival country of Pakistan, India will be celebrating the Independence Day on Monday, August 15. Besides, Kashmiris will be observing India’s Independence Day as ‘Black Day’.
Meanwhile, ANP leader and provincial Secretary Information Arbad Tahir, clarifying the impression, has said that due to security arrangements, the hoisting of the flag was delayed till Monday, August 15.
He said that the function may further be extended till August 16 or 17 if security agencies fail to issue security clearance.
Also, PPP’s leader Nabil Gabool, has requested the ANP leadership to change the date of celebrations, citing the past issues in connection with Ramazan and Eid’s moon sighting.
He said the government officials might have mistakenly set this date sans consent of ANP government.
He said if this is a bid for setting a trend then PPP will see the incident as ‘worrying’.
PML-N’s leader Ahsan Iqbal deplored the decision, saying that PM Gilani should immediately take notice and should order directives of cancelation of celebrations on August 15. TrendPK
Islamabad: PML-N meets for reorganization, considers rejection of RGST Bill
A meeting of PML-N was held in Islamabad today in which the party leaders gave consideration to rejecting RGST Bill in the National Assembly while the party reorganization was also on the agenda of the meeting. Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif presided over the meeting and said that institutional stability is required in the country instead of autocratic rule. Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan, Khawaja Asif, Ishaq Dar, Ahsan Iqbal, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Ghous Ali Shah and other central leaders participated in the meeting. Rejection of RGST Bill was also considered during the meeting while the party analyzed the possibilities of contacting other parties on the issue. All the provincial organizers of the party submitted their reports on the structural reorganization of PML-N.
Addressing the meeting Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif said that he feels satisfied to see the parliament becoming stronger and stabler. He also said that if the decisions are taken by the parliament it would increase the strength of institutions and this would, in turn, strengthen democracy in the country.
Circumstances compelled to launch APML: Pagara
In an important meeting, newly-formed All Pakistan Muslim League leadership has constituted a 10member committee to contact Nawaz Sharif and others. Mir Zafarullah Jamali will lead the 10-member committee.
Talking to media in Karachi, Mir Zafarullah Jamali said that Pakistan was passing through a difficult phase of time and it was need of the hour to unite all Muslim Leagues. He said that without showing leniency, Leagues cannot be united.
On this occasion, Pir Pagara while talking to media said that circumstances compelled them to launch a united party. He said that without Mutahida Muslim League, challenges of the country cannot be addressed.

PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal while talking to Dunya News said that it was a scheme to break vote bank of PML-N. he said that N doesnt believe on traditional alliances but we believe on politics of principles. He said that hurdles were being created in the way of PML-N.

While talking to Dunya News, PML-Q leader Amir Maqam said that the party still had no meeting on the issue. He said that there should be a true and credible leader who can lead the new alliance so that every one can follow him.
Nawaz should apologize for attack on PPP leaders: Khuhro

KARACHI: Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Khuhro said on Thursday that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz chief Nawaz Sharif should apologize for attacking Pakistan Peoples Party leaders on October 12, adding that action should be taken against PML-N leaders, Ahsan Iqbal, Khwaja Saad Rafiq and Pervez Rasheed.
During his press conference, he challenged Nawaz Sharif to come out if he has power. “Nawaz Sharif has no option. He only likes to distribute Watan Cards.”
He said that Nawaz made Pervez Musharraf army chief on the recommendation of Chaudhry Nisar.

LAHORE: Referring to Musharraf as a spent cartridge, Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal said that former military ruler Pervez Musharraf is making irresponsible statements to attract media and public attention.
In an exclusive chat with SAMAA today, he said the former president will be put on trial on his return to the country as his November 3 actions were not ratified by the parliament or judiciary.
Iqbal’s comments came hours after Musharraf’s interview where he termed PML-N chief Mian Nawaz Sharif a pro-Taliban leader.
Musharraf claimed he cannot be tried for sedition charges because all of his actions were validated both by the judiciary and parliament. SAMAA
Govt wants to bring judiciary under control: Ahsan
ISLAMABAD: Central spokesman of Pakistan Muslim League-N Ahsan Iqbal Friday demanded of the government to clarify its position, on what he said, the humiliating letter of NAB against the higher judiciary.
In a statement issued here at media secretariat, Ahsan Iqbal said PML-N will foil all attempts aimed at undermining the judiciary.
He said inaction of government on the letter written by NAB against the top judiciary even after a lapse of three days is tantamount to supporting the conspiracies being hatched against the judiciary.
“Some PPP ministers are showing ignorance to the letter while PPP spokesman is terming it in accordance with the Constitution,” he regretted.
He said the government, by hook or by crook, is attempting to bring the judiciary under its control.
Nawaz wants acceptable solution to end Hazara protests
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Mian Nawaz Sharif said Tuesday innocent lives should not be wasted to do politics on the issue of NWFP name.
The PML-N chief chaired a consultative meeting held at the Punjab House to review the prevailing tense situation in Abbotabad.
The meeting was also attended by Raja Zafar ul Haq, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ahsan Iqbal, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Pir Sabir Shah and other senior leaders.
He said that those political parties that were rejected by the people would not be allowed to stoke violence in the Hazara Division.
The former premier urged all political parties to sit together to find an acceptable and immediate solution to the problem.
He said his party has showed flexibility on the renaming of NWFP, as it does not want to create hurdles in the passage of 18th Amendment for the sake of provincial autonomy and restoration of the Constitution.
“Our party will speak to the elders of Hazara Division to bring the situation under control,” he said.
Judicial crisis over as lawyer tenders apology
FAISALABAD: The dispute between bar and bench in Faisalabad Monday settled after Liaquat Javed advocate, who had slapped civil judge Tariq Mehmood, tendered apology to the judge.
District and Sessions judge Suhail Nasir and President of the Bar Ahsan Iqbal addressing a press conference announced compromise between the bar and the bench and said the lawyers and judges will return to their works from today.
The dispute caused by the slapping incident closed court work in Faisalabad for a week.
PML-N Forms Body for NWFP Name Change
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan News: Former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif has constituted a party committee headed by Sartaj Aziz to consider over the change of the name of NWFP and to hold talks with Awami National Party (ANP) over the issue.
The committee was formed in a meeting of Muslim League (Nawaz) at Punjab House in Islamabad on Saturday.
The members of the committee include Saranjam Khan, Nasir Khan, Sardar Mehtab and Pir Sabir Shah.
The meeting also nominated Malik Shakeel Awan as party candidate for bye-elections of NA-55 constituency in Rawalpindi. Anbar Faiz was named party candidate for Mansehra bye-polls.

Southern Punjab CNG Stations Closed for 2 days
MULTAN: The CNG stations have been closed for two days in southern Punjab including Multan according to government directives.
According to schedule issued by Sui Northern Gas Company, the stations have been closed for two days from 6:00 am today in Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan and Bahawalpur. In case of violation, the gas connection will be disconnect for 10 days. The consumers have demanded government to adopt another strategy instead of closure of gas stations.
