Obama pledges $483 million for Palestinian aid

WASHINGTON: US president Barack Obama has unveiled a $483 million aid package for Palestinians after meeting with Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas.
Their meeting comes nearly two weeks after the deadly Isaeli raid on ships heading to the Gaza Strip.
The US president says he believes significant progress can be made in the Middle East peace process.
“The status quo that we have is one that is inherently unstable and the I think the Israelis have come to recognise that,” Mr Obama said.
Mr Abbas says the “siege” of the Palestinian people has to be lifted.
The US aid package will include money for houses, schools and access to drinking water.

Huge foreign investments in the current month and recent approval of US aid package of 2.28 billion for Pakistan have fuelled the market.

$300Mln Package As Aid For Pakistan Approved By World Bank
Washington: World Bank, to approve the aid package of $300 million for Pakistan, including $200 million is earmarked for the Program for the Benazir Income Support (BISP), while the remaining $100 million will be in a project are used to promoting higher education in Pakistan.
According to sources, the World Bank was awaiting agreement with the IMF for the approval of this aid package for Pakistan, while the formal approval of the package will arrive at the meeting of the Governing Body of the World Bank.
Pakistan expects to receive the aid package within two months, sources said.
This aid package will be $300 million to Pakistan, a 5% interest within 35 years must be repaid is released, the sources added.
