TrendPK.com: This week is the 25th anniversary of Bon Jovi‘s “Slippery When Wet” album. It’s their seminal work, with “Livin’ on a Prayer,” “Wanted Dead or Alive,” and “You Give Love a Bad Name” all from the same collection. Time flies–now Bon Jovi is well established, and a potential inductee for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The songs lasted because they were good, and the music held up because the players have style, a solid work ethic and excellent hair! Many congrats.
Not only that but menschy Jon Bon Jovi turned himself into an actor, an activist, and a popular figure on the charity front. He’s to be much applauded for unselfishness. Over the weekend, Jon raised over a million bucks in the Hamptons for music education with help from Ben E. LOS ANGELES: Rapper Eminem, riding high on the comeback trail after spending several years battling drug addiction, led the field of Grammy contenders on Wednesday with 10 nominations.
The 38-year-old hip-hop star will compete for the three big awards of album, song and record of the year, as well as in a host of rap categories.
Other leading nominees for the major music awards included rising RB star Bruno Mars with seven nods, while rapper Jay-Z, flamboyant pop star Lady Gaga and country group Lady Antebellum picked up six nominations each.
Canadian teen idol Justin Bieber, mobbed by young girls everywhere as one of the hottest new commodities in the music world, led a strong international field for best new artist. He will compete for the coveted award alongside a compatriot, rapper Drake; two British bands, Florence The Machine and Mumford Sons; and American jazz singer Esperanza Spalding.
Winners in all 109 categories will be announced during ceremonies in Los Angeles on February 13.
Rock bands were largely missing from the leading categories, as pop, hip-hop and country artists grabbed the spotlight.
Indie Montreal-based band Arcade Fire will fly the flag for the rock genre in the album of the year race. Its third release, “The Suburbs,” will vie for the Grammys” top honor with Eminem”s “Recovery,” Lady Antebellum”s “Need You Now,” Lady Gaga”s “The Fame Monster” and pop singer Katy Perry”s “Teenage Dream.”
Songs nominated for record of the year, a category that honors the artist and the producer, were “Nothin” On You,” by rapper B.o.B featuring Bruno Mars; “Love The Way You Lie,” by Eminem featuring RB singer Rihanna; “F*** You,” by funk singer Cee Lo Green; “Empire State Of Mind,” by rapper Jay-Z RB singer Alicia Keys; and “Need You Now,” by Lady Antebellum.
Three of those songs — Eminem”s “Love the Way You Lie,” Green”s “F*** You” and Lady Antebellum”s “Need You Now” — were also cited for song of the year, a songwriter”s award. The field was rounded out by “Beg Steal Or Borrow” performed by singer/songwriter Ray LaMontagne, and “The House That Built Me,” performed by country singer Miranda Lambert.
EMINEM COMEBACK STRIKES CHORD
Grammy voters love to reward artists making career comebacks, especially if they have overcome an addiction or other personal setbacks along the way, and Eminem fulfills those criteria.
The rapper, whose real name is Marshall Mathers, went almost five years between studio albums. He spent much of his time holed up in his Detroit home battling an addiction to prescription medication, and nearly died of a methadone overdose in 2007.
Eminem returned to the limelight in May 2009 with “Relapse,” one of the biggest sellers of the year. It also won two Grammys in January, bringing his career tally to 11.
He returned in June this year with “Recovery,” which spawned two chart-topping singles, “Not Afraid” and “Love the Way You Lie.” The latter tune revolved around a dysfunctional relationship and struck a chord with women, a demographic hitherto underrepresented among Eminem”s fan base. It spent seven weeks at No. 1 on the U.S. Hot 100 chart during the summer.
He has never won the album of the year award, and famously lost the race in 2001 to an unheralded album by veteran rock duo Steely Dan.
Bruno Mars, whose real name is Peter Hernandez, reached the top of the Hot 100 with “Just the Way You Are” in September, days after he was arrested on a cocaine charge in Las Vegas. The song marked his first charting single as a lead artist and it spent four weeks at No. 1. He previously went to No. 1 in May as the featured artist on B.o.B”s “Nothin” On You.”

Lady Gaga, Keys to sign off Twitter for charity

CALIFORNIA: Alicia Keys and Lady Gaga take charity work seriously, and they’re going offline to prove it.
Gaga, Justin Timberlake, Usher and other celebrities have joined a new campaign called Digital Life Sacrifice on behalf of Keys’ charity, Keep a Child Alive. The entertainers plan to sign off of social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter on Wednesday, which is World AIDS Day. The participants will sign back on when the charity raises $1 million.
“It’s really important and super-cool to use mediums that we naturally are on,” Keys said in a phone interview from New York last week.
For the campaign — which also includes Jennifer Hudson, Ryan Seacrest, Kim and Khloe Kardashian, Elijah Wood, Serena Williams, Janelle Monae and Keys’ husband, Swizz Beatz — celebrities have filmed “last tweet and testament” videos and will appear in ads showing them lying in

Here’s a sneak peak of the new Luna Park’s magnificent entrance on Surf Avenue in Coney Island. The pinwheel and crescent moon design pays homage to the gate of the original 1903 Luna Park. Photographer and Coney Island native Barry Yanowitz happened to be there last night when technicians were testing the lights.ATZ

Los Angeles, California (CNN) — Alicia Keys has 12 Grammys under her belt and now she has something else under there, too.
The 29-year-old R&B singer is pregnant with her first child, her representatives confirmed.
They would not say when the child is due.
Weeks of photos have shown Keys noticeably fuller in the mid-section and sporting a collection of loose fitting black tops.
The father is Keys’ fiance, producer/DJ/rapper Swizz Beatz.
The couple is engaged to be married in a private ceremony later this year.
Swizz Beatz, 31, — whose real name is Kasseem Dean — has one son from his marriage to Mashonda Tifrere. He also has a second son from a previous relationship.
Swizz Beatz and Keys have been friends for several years and worked together on one song for her current album, “The Element of Freedom,” the publicist said.Though Mashonda was trying to keep it on a positive note by refraining from talking about certain things, she did go on to reveal she is part owner of Swizz Beatz record label Full Surface meaning that the money earned from production credits by Swizz Beatz is still shared with her such as one of Beyonce’s songs produced by Swizz Beatz.

Big volcanic eruptions in Guatemala
Rocks spewing from a volcano overlooking the Guatemalan capital, a television reporter slain, authorities said Friday. Three children are missing.
Major explosions also shook a towering volcano in the South American nation of Ecuador on Wednesday, forcing evacuations of three villages. There were no immediate reports of deaths.
Guatemala’s Pacaya volcano started erupting lava and rocks on Thursday afternoon, blanketing the Central American country’s capital with ash and forcing the closure of the international airport. President Alvaro Colom declared a “state of calamity.”
“We thought we wouldn’t survive. Our houses crumbled and we’ve lost everything,” said Brenda Castaneda, who said she and her family hid under beds and tables as marble-sized rocks thundered down on her home in the village of Calderas. The family was waiting for rescue teams to take them to a shelter at a nearby school.
The volcano covered parts of Guatemala City in ash, forcing the closure of the country’s main international airport.
Officials said La Aurora airport would remain closed into Saturday, and flights were being diverted to other parts of the country.
The government says it is evacuating 1,600 people from near the volcano and it has shut down the city’s international airport.

The Pacaya Volcano has erupted in Guatemala. The volcano is close to Guatemala City and the black ash is creating all sorts of problems for the citizens. The ash is approx. 2″ to 10″ thick and is hindering driving. The
Pacaya Volcano, like Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano, has closed down the international airport (La Aurora International Airport) because of ash in the air. Incoming flights are being rerouted to other airports in the country.
As if the eruption of Pacaya Volcano erupting isn’t enough, Guatemala is also experiencing a tropical storm and 2 earthquakes all at the same time. Water, ash and stones have been raining down on areas inside and close to Guatemala City. Towns are being evacuated in some parts. The government has urged people not to go outside of their homes unless absolutely necessary.
The falling ash is causing traffic accidents, at this writing 30 traffic accidents have been reported due to driving on ash filled roads. Ash is also falling in Amatitán, San Francisco of Sales, Calderas, Los Pocitos and San Vicente Pacaya. 3 children have been reported missing and a TV reporter was found dead. The TV reporter, Anibal Arcila, was killed from falling debris from the Pacaya volcano.
The President of Guatemala has declared a state of calamity. He has enacted a state of disaster for at least the next 15 days. The Pacaya volcano continues to have increased eruptive activity.
Guatemala is no stranger to volcanoes. They have 8 active ones. The Pacaya volcano is a tourist attraction. Many people go there and walk along the lava flows that were created by volcanic eruptions in 1989 and 1991. There are hiking trails around the volcano. Pacaya volcano has been erupting off and on since 1966

In an interview with celebrity personality Kendra G, R&B singer Mashonda Tifrere, the estranged wife of hip hop music producer Swizz Beatz, spoke about her relationship with her husband and the alleged rumors about him cheating on her with R&B singer Alicia Keys.
When asked if she believed that Alicia Keys could be the type of person to sleep with a woman’s husband, Mashonda stated she didn’t know and when asked if she had ever spoken with Keys, Mashonda responded that she tried to but was basically “ignored.”
Did someone actually attack her account? I feel this was done on purpose. Paramore will be touring the UK later this year, and the tickets actually went on sale this morning. Coincidence or what? On with better news. Alicia Keys just confirmed she is indeed pregnant and engaged to Swizz Beatz. Swizz proposed to Keys with a 7 carat engagement ring. The couple will be getting married later this year at a private ceremony.
Fans will be searching for the pregnancy baby bump photos. I would say from the pictures she is about 3 months. Not bad for only dating a year. This couple denied the dating rumors for some time, because Swizz was waiting for his divorce to be finalized. Now this happy couple can go out in public and have no worries.

Gah! When I’m doing unusually well at one thing, I’m doing worse-than-usual at another. This weekend I was abnormally productive with my blog designing (5 designs in one weekend! Though only 2 are installed/totally complete). Despite my triumph in that area, I was horrible at posting last week! I tried a few times, but I could never think of anything to say.
I’ve finally thought of something semi-interesting to post about. I uploaded a new photo for my “About Me” section, which gave me an idea. I thought it would be fun to play a game to see who can guess how old I am. Leave a comment stating how old you think I look vs. your educated guess at how old I really am. I’m not sure what the prize will be. How about…the satisfaction of being right!

Alicia Keys Baby Bump? Alicia Seems Pregnant – Recent rumors have stated that Alicia Keys is pregnant. As of right now, they are indeed just rumors as there has been no confirmation from any sources, and the pictures that have surfaced could have been doctored or shot from a misleading angle.
The most recent picture, which shows Keys singing from a side angle with a bump in the right area on her body lead some to believe that she was pregnant, could have easily been taken when she was inhaling deep before singing, giving it the appearance that she had put on a little extra weight toward the middle of her body. Keys has not commented on the photo, and still the rumors persist.Lately Alicia has been seen with a baby bump in her latest concerts. The bump didn’t seem like a normal tummy and many people were suspicious that she might be pregnant. Well the news has been confirmed that she is indeed pregnant. She has been with Swizz Beatz for a long time and it is confirmed that the child is Beatz’s.
Beatz already has two children from his previous marriage and met Alicia when he was going through the divorce with his previous wife.
