President, PM condoles death of Mian Iftikhar’s son
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani have expressed profound grief over the death of son of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Minister Mian Iftikhar Hussain, in a terrorist attack in Nowshera.
The President strongly condemned the cowardly attack and said the culprits would be brought to justice.
In their separate messages of condolence, the President and Prime Minister prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
Shab-e-Miraj observed with religious fervour
ISLAMABAD: Shab-e-Mairaj-un-Nabi (Peace Be Upon Him) was observed across the country on Friday night with great respect and religious fervour.
The Muslims every year on 27th of Rajab (Islamic calendar) observe Shab-e-Miraj in which the Holy Prophet (PBUH) went on a special journey to meet Allah Almighty, crossing seven skies on the heavenly animal named ”al-Buraq.”
The Holy Prophet (PBUH) continued his heavenly tour until he reached close to the Throne of Allah Almighty and attained the utmost nearness to Him. After drinking from the Divine fountain of spiritual knowledge he came down to impart knowledge to mankind.
On that Night of Ascent, Allah Almighty also gave the order of the five daily Salat (Prayers) as being mandatory upon Muslims.
Faithful gathered at mosques after Isha to offer special prayers that continued till Fajr, while different gatherings and Mahafil-e-Naat were arranged to mark the holy night.
Ulema and religious scholars in their sermons highlighted the teachings and various aspects of the life of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
The houses, streets and specially mosques were decorated with colorful pennants and buntings whereas at night these were illuminated with lights, candles and oil lamps.
Besides, people visited graves of their near and dear ones, seeking Allah Almighty”s blessings for the departed souls.
Special security arrangements were made for observance of Shab-e-Miraj throughout the country.

PM Gilani condemns IDP camp blast
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on Saturday strongly condemned a bomb blast in a camp of internally displaced persons in Kohat and reiterated that such incidents would not deter the government’s resolve to fight terrorism.
In a message, the Prime Minister ordered inquiry into the incident and directed best possible treatment for the injured.
He expressed his deep sorrow and grief over the loss of life and prayed to Allah Almighty to bless the killed ones and grant courage to their families to bear this loss.
Nation Celebrating Eid-ul-Azha Today

Pakistan News: Eid ul Azha will be celebrated across the country today with a religious zeal and fervor and a renewed pledge for peace and brotherhood. Special prayers will be offered after Fajr prayers for peace, progress and prosperity of the country. The day will dawn with exchange of felicitations among the Muslims as they will share their sentiments of brotherhood, love and respect for one another while moving to the congregation places. Then they would gather at mosques at open places (Eidgahs) to offer prayers and commemorate the great sacrifices of Hazrat Ibrahim, the beloved Prophet of Allah Almighty. Special sermons are delivered at congregations to highlight the importance of the Day and spirit behind the sacrifices of the animals to the will of God. This festival reminds us the commitment of Hazrat Ibrahim, who on the will of God, offered the sacrifice of his dear son Hazrat Ismail. This act of Hazrat Ibrahim was so graciously liked by Allah Almighty that He made sacrifice obligatory to those Muslims who afford it. After offering prayers and hearing to the sermons of the preachers, they sacrifice their animals and share happiness and meat with their relatives, neighbors and friends in a gesture of love and brotherhood. Yesterday, Eid ul Azha was celebrated in Middle Eastern and European countries; where as in some areas of NWFP, including Mehmund Agency, Khyber Agency and Nowshehra, Eid was celebrated yesterday.

President Zardari, PM Gilani Condemn Blast At WFP Office
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani on Monday strongly condemned the blast at the office of United Nations World Food Program and the loss of life.

The President in a message said Pakistan could not be deterred in its efforts to fight extremism and terrorism and would continue its quest to bring peace by eliminating the terrorists.
Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the loss of life, he prayed to Allah Almighty to shower his blessings on the departed soul and for courage for their families to bear this loss with equanimity.
He also sought a report of the blast and said the perpetrators would not go unpunished.
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has strongly condemned the bomb blast at the office of WFP.
The Prime Minister ordered enquiry into the incident and directed the concerned authorities for providing best medical relief to the injured.

Ramzanul Mubarak and Govt of Punjab
Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan:- Chief Secretary Punjab, Javed Mehmood has said that the Punjab government is spending billions of rupees for provision of atta and sugar to the people at cheaper rates during Ramzanul Mubarak. He urged upon the philanthropist and well-to-do people to come forward and earn the blessings of Allah Almighty by helping the poor and deserving persons by arranging Iftar Dastarkhans.
He expressed these views during his surprise visit to a Ramzan Bazar set up at Shorekot district Jhang by the district administration. He said that there is no shortage of atta and sugar and the sugar would be sold at Rs.47/kg even after Ramzannul Mubarak. The Chief Secretary expressed his pleasure over sale of 20kg atta at Rs.194 and 10kg atta bag at Rs.97 in district Jhang and said that this is an example to be followed by other districts of Punjab. On this occasion, DCO Asad Islami Honey told that atta, sugar, chicken and other edibles are being sold at cheaper rates in 13 sastay bazaars. He also told that no buyer of atta is returning without atta as a result of manifold increase in the quota of atta. Chief Secretary also inspected the Ramzan Bazars at Bharwana and Garh Maharaja and appreciated the performance of district administration Jhang.

NRO and Musharraf’s Trail Two Different Issues: PM

RAWALPINDI: Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the trial of former president Musharraf can not be compared with NRO as both are separate issues.
He was talking to media persons after visiting Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan’s residence to offer condolence over his brother’s demise.
When asked whether National Reconciliation Ordinance was a hurdle in the way of former president Pervez Musharraf’s trial, the Prime Minister termed them two different issues.
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani Monday said the government wanted to maintain friendly relations with all its neighbors including India on the basis of equality.
Gilani said his government desires forward movement on the Composite Dialogue process with India for the resolution of all outstanding issues.
To a question, the Prime Minister said the government was in touch with the PML(N) on all important issues including relations with India.
He referred to his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in Sharm el Sheikh, and said he had met PML (N) Chief Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif to take him onboard.
The Prime Minister said the government had fixed the ex-mill price of sugar at Rs 45 per kilogram, adding that the availability of commodity would be ensured in all provinces.
He said the provincial governments following the federal government’s step were also trying to control the price of sugar.
Gilani mentioned the unavailability of sugar in Balochistan and said the federal government had directed the Trading Corporation of Pakistan to ensure ample supply of sugar to the province.
He said the government was utilizing all the resources to normalize the price of sugar.
He said the hoarders should also realize the problems of people especially during the holy month of Ramazan.
When asked whether National Reconciliation Ordinance was a hurdle in the way of former president Pervez Musharraf’s trial, the Prime Minister termed them two different issues.
Gilani did not agree to the impression regarding differences between PPP and PML(N) and said both parties had their own manifestos and programmes.
He said both parties were moving with political maturity to strengthen the national institutions as per the wishes of masses.
Earlier, the Prime Minister along with Federal Minister for Interior Rehman Malik, Water and Power Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Babar Awan, especially went to Chakri to offer condolences to Chaudhry Nisar.
Gilani expressed deep sorrow and grief over the death of Lt. Gen. ® Iftikhar and prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in peace and grant courage to the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
