14a6fc4b16london President Zardari, Miliband Meet In LondonLONDON: British Foreign Secretary David Miliband here Saturday evening called on President Asif Ali Zardari. The meeting was also attended by Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari,Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Chairman Foreign Relations Committee of the National Assembly Asfandyar Wali Khan, High Commissioner Wajid Shamsul Hassan, and Deputy High Commissioner Asif Durrani.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations,the forthcoming summit of the Friends of Democratic Pakistan and situation in the region.

President Zardari said that Pakistan looked forward to the FoDP summit in New York that will also be co-chaired by President Obama and Prime Minister Gordon Brown along with him.

He said that Pakistan expected strategic support of the world democracies from the platform of FoDP to overcome its various problems arising out of decades strife and conflict in the region as a result of the free world’s fight against the rival ideology.

David Miliband appreciated the progress in the war against militants and in the rehabilitation of the displaced persons.

President Zardari’s policy address to the International Institute of Strategic Studies in London on Friday also came under discussion in the meeting.

About peace and stability in the region the President said that Pakistan believed that regional dialogue and cooperation was the way forward and that the revival of composite dialogue was in the best interest of the region.

The President also emphasized ‘trade, not aid’ and the need for allowing access to Pakistani manufactures to the markets of European Union countries.

Pakistan Hands Over Dossier to India on Mumbai attack

ISLAMABAD : The High Commissioner of India was called to the Foreign Office on Saturday by the Foreign Secretary and handed over a dossier pertaining to the probe on the terrorist attack in Mumbai.

The dossier handed over to the Indian side is in response to the material given by India on August 1, 2009, says a handout from the Foreign Office.
