Gilani appreciates joint collaboration in relief activities
Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani on Thursday appreciated the opposition and civil society and federal and provincial governments for making concerted efforts to provide relief and raise donations for the flood victims.
Talking to Hamid Yar Hiraj, MNA who called on him at the PM House, Gilani said the government would continue its efforts till rehabilitation of all flood-affected people.
Hamid Yar Hiraj, MNA thanked the Prime Minister for his reconciliatory political approach and keen interest in relief and rehabilitation of flood victims. He also discussed development schemes of his areas.

Obama discusses Pak-Afghan with NATO secretary general

WASHINGTON: U.S. President Barack Obama has discussed the war against terrorism and the current situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan with visiting NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen at the White House here.
“The two leaders discussed progress in implementing our shared strategy for Afghanistan and Pakistan and ways to further strengthen the international community’s efforts,” the White House said in a statement.
During the meeting, Mr. Obama thanked Mr. Rasmussen for the significant NATO commitment to promote peace and stability around the world, particularly in Afghanistan where nearly 50,000 non-US ISAF troops, trainers, and civilians are serving alongside Americans.
Mr. Obama and Mr. Rasmussen also discussed goals for the November 19-20 NATO Summit in Lisbon, including unveiling a new NATO Strategic Concept that reinforces the allied commitment
Top US officials call on Zardari
US National Security Adviser James Jones and CIA Director Leon Panetta called on President Zardari at the Presidency in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The two top national security lieutenants of US President Barrack Obama discussed the probe in the wake of the failed bombing attempt at New Yorks Times Square and other matters of mutual interest. They also discussed operation in North Waziristan region and Afghanistan situation.

The US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke called on the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani at the army head quarters in Rawalpindi.

Holbrooke Meets President Zaradri
LAHORE, Pakistan News: The meeting between President Asif Ali Zardari and US special envoy to Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke was held here at Governor House.
President Zardari categorically told Holbrooke about the problems Pakistan is facing due to war on terror, and called upon the US to consider the aid programmes and materialize them immediately.
Both the leaders also discussed the security situation in the region and the Pak-US relations.
The meeting is being attended by US ambassador to Pakistan Anne W Patterson, Governor Punjab Salman Taseer, Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir, Secretary General to the President Salman Farooqi and other senior officials.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Chaudhry, during hearing of the said case, remarked that “..nobody should think of escaping abroad after looting the national money”. NAB told the court that efforts were on to nab Seth Nisar, while probe also underway against all those officials who helped Sheikh Afzal’s escape abroad. Terming Hmaesh Khan’s issue as of critical importance, the CJ ordered NAB to intensify efforts to bring Hamesh back home.
He vowed to bring all those who embezzled the national money to book, adding that the innocent, if any, would be given judicial protection. The case was adjourned till January 15.
