40 militants perish in Khyber blitz
PESHAWAR: At least 40 suspected extremists have been killed in bombardments by security forces carried out in Tirah Valley of Khyber District on late Tuesday, Geo News reported.
Meanwhile, eyewitnesses said killed also included women and children after falling victim to bombardment.
According to ISPR sources, security forces launched attacks on terrorists’ various hideouts established in Nari Baba, Nakai, Takhta-e-Kai and Qilla areas of Khyber Agency.
Security forces pounded militants’ sanctuaries; training centers, FM radio station and vehicles meant for carrying out suicide attacks in Tirah Valley, resulting in perishing nearly 40 extremists, sources told media.
Also, forces claimed that militants were planning suicide attacks in different parts of Peshawar and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa areas on massive scale before Eid-ul-Fitr.
FC sources said security forces are in operation against extremists in Tirah Valley following secrete intelligence regarding their presence in huge numbers.
Militants were abusing women and children being ‘Human Shield’ in Tirah Valley who were targeted amid forces’ operation conducted on Tuesday, FC sources claimed.
Meanwhile, two local men, sustained injuries during blitz, have been shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex who had fallen victim to bombing on way back to home after praying for souls of deceased siblings at a graveyard, relatives told media persons.
Killed also included children and women, they said further.
Advocate on record refuses to submit NAB reply
ISLAMABAD: Acting chairman National Accountability Bureau(NAB) and Prosecutor General has prepared written reply for Supreme Court in Punjab Bank scam, however, advocate general has refused to submit these replies in the court due to objectionable language.
The acting chairman NAB Javed Qazi wrote a letter to Supreme Court in which 13 objections have been raised on Bank of Punjab(BoP) petition and also included notification of assigning authorities to acting chairman NAB.
According to reply, federation has administrative authority to appoint NAB chairman and prosecutor general and therefore, advocate general has no right to intervene in federation issues.
Javed Qazi said advocate general Punjab’s petition has no link with PoB case investigations. The country’s largest anti corruption agency NAB cant run according to Punjab Bank’s wishes. Advocate General Punjab Khawaja Haris wants to destroy NAB investigations for political interests, he added.
US mission attack mastermind held in Karachi
KARACHI: The CID Police on Wednesday arrested an alleged member of a proscribed jihadi outfit from a Karachi locality.
The arrested man is said to be the mastermind of attacks on the US consulate and former President Pervez Musharraf.
His name was also included in the list of most wanted terrorists.
On receiving a tip off, the CID police raided a house located in New Karachi area and arrested Ahsan alias Ashan Bhai, a member of the banned Harkat-ul-Mujahideen al Alami, along with weapons, Incharge of the CID Anti-terrorism Cell, SP Omar Shahid, told Geo News.

LAHORE, Pakistan: Suicide Attack in Lahore, 15 injured, At least 15 people were hurt when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a security checkpoint here Monday Nov 2, 2009.
The incident occurred at Babu Sabu Police Checkpost near Sherakot Interchange. Many policemen were also included among the wounded who were immediately rushed to nearby hospital.
