Mumbai attacks case: contempt notice issued to Rehman Malik

The notice has been issued on a statement given by him in London with reference to despatching judicial commission to India in Mumbai attack case.
FIA had filed application under section 503 about despatching a judicial commission to India. FIA has completed its arguments on it while defence counsel Khawaja Sultan and other lawyers were yet to give arguments on behalf of Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi and other accused.
Defence lawyer Khawaja Sultan Ahmad had made interior minister and government respondents in contempt plea. It was said in the contempt application that interior minister while addressing a seminar in London had said with respect to the petition pending hearing in the court in Mumbai attack case that court had granted commission’s request for sending judicial commission to India and the commission would leave for India within 7 to 11 days.
The court while granting plea of Khawaja Sultan Ahmad stopped debate over the application filed by FIA for sending commission to India and issued contempt of court notice to Interior Minister Rehman Malik on his statement.
The court on the request of lawyers has also summoned three prosecution witnesses including forensic expert of FIA Noman Ashraf Godla, Inspector Sardar Muhammad Azam and Nisar Jadoon from FIA on August, 13 for recording their statements.
Brahmdagh Bugti seeking political asylum in Switzerland

Chief of Baloch Republican Party (BRP) Nawabzada Brahmdagh Bugti has sought political asylum in Switzerland.
Brahmdagh has submitted an application to the Swiss authorities seeking political asylum, Mir Sher Muhammad Bugti, his spokesperson maintained. He will continue to take up the issue of human rights violations in Balochistan at the UN and other international forums, the spokesperson added. Brahmdagh had gone into hiding following the death of Baloch chieftains Nawab Akbar Bugti and Balach Marri. He avoided contacting people for security reasons. Brahmdagh also advised his supporters to continue their struggle for the rights of the Baloch people. The government has made repeated claims about Brahmdagh Bugtis presence in the Afghan capital of Kabul from where he has been leading the Baloch insurgents. He had founded the outlawed Baloch Republican Army (BRA) which is engaged in attacks on government installations and security forces in volatile parts of Balochistan. Pakistan authorities had taken up Brahmdaghs matter with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, when he visited Islamabad last time. And the Afghan leader had promised to look into the matter. Brahmdagh has been denying reports that he was hiding in Afghanistan and instead claimed that he was leading a struggle for the rights of the Baloch people from somewhere in Balochistan.Recently, Nawabzada Hyrbyar Marri was also given political asylum in Britain on a British courts orders. Earlier, Britains Home Office had rejected his application for political asylum.
PCB Integrity Committee Require Players Replies For Clearance

Pakistan Cricket Board was not able to meet the dead line of ICC for announcement of preliminary squad for the world cup. ICC after reviewing the application of PCB had extended the dead line for announcement of preliminary squad. Now PCB has dead line of 5th December to announce the squad for the world cup.
The reason for the delay was that the players were not getting clearance from PCB. Now PCB has asked players to submit their replies to the integrity committee of PCB. Kamran Akmal, Shoaib Malik and Danish Kaneria were three players who didn’t get clearance from PCB. Now these players will submit their replies to committee.
PCB didn’t select these three players for the NZ tour and also not announce any reason for this. According to estimates their might be some instruction from ICC for not including the players in the squad. PCB didn’t announce the ODI team for the tour and it is expected that after clearance all three players will get their place in the squad.
Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik were not happy after the decision of not including them in the team. They demanded that PCB should tell them the reason for not selecting them even after they performed well in the Domestic.
ICC Extended Deadline For PCB For Preliminary Squad
Pakistan Cricket Board gets extension from ICC for the announcement of preliminary 30 men squad for world cup 2011.
Pakistan cricket board had a meeting at it’s headquarter at Lahore but they were not able to decide the 30 men name for the world cup preliminary squad. There are some senior players who are not able to get PCB clearance. After the meeting it was stated in the statement issued by PCB that preliminary team will be announce on some later dates.
There is some news that PCB has asked ICC for the clearance of some experience players and sources said that there was debate in the meeting regarding the inclusion of these players in the team. PCB also applied for extension in the date of announcement of 30 men squad.
After reviewing the application of PCB it was decided that the deadline for the preliminary 30 players has been extended and now 5th December is the new deadline for PCB for announcement of 30 men squad.
Three Pakistani players Salman Butt, M Aamir and M Asif are suspended by ICC and PCB also asked for these three players. Other senior batsmen are also not getting clearance from PCB and there are some reports that the delay in announcement of ODI squad for New Zealand tour might be reasoned for not getting clearance from ICC.

LAHORE: Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Aslam Tareen has said in a press conference on Thursday that the application had been sent for deployment of army and rangers during Muharram-ul-Haram.
The army and rangers will perform their duties from 7th of Muharram, he added.
The CCPO Lahore told media that police is asked to report about the sensitive areas in five days. The use of metal detectors and closed-circuit television cameras will be ensured, he said.

FIR registered against six suspects in Multan killings case

MULTAN: Multan Police registered an FIR against six persons for their alleged involvement in the brutal murder of four family members.
Three members of a family were found shot dead and two others injured on Friday inside their house in Mehmoodabad.
The dead include 23-year-old Atif Iqbal Gill, 21-year-old Tehreem Iqbal Gill and 25-year-old Gulshan.
The injured include Imran Iqbal Gill, 5 and 18-year-old Arsalan Iqbal Gill, who succumbed to his wounds.
The injured bore strangulation marks on their necks.
Police said the murders seemed to be the result of a family dispute.
Meanwhile, family and relatives of the victims today left Multan for their native town in Toba Tek Singh.

ICC uphold spot-fixing suspensions on Pakistani duo

DUBAI: Pakistani cricketers Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir had their provisional suspensions over allegations of spot-fixing upheld by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Sunday.
“I have decided to dismiss the application… all three players accordingly are still for the time being unable to participate in cricketing activities ” Michael Beloff, the head of the ICC’s code of conduct commission told reporters in Dubai on Sunday after a two-day hearing.
The innocence or guilt of the players, who have denied any wrongdoing, will be judged at an independent tribunal, the date of which has yet to be set. AGENCIES
Butt, Aamir appear before ICC tribunal today

DUBAI: Suspended cricketers, Salman Butt, Muhammad Aamir, are due to appear before an ICC tribunal in a 2-day hearing which will decide whether the allegations imposed on the duo are genuine or lack enough evidence to define the two as culprits.
The two players are being accompanied by their respective lawyers who will defend their case during the hearing which will be presided over by Michael Beloff QC.
Both the players were allegedly involved in the spot-fixing scandal during the Test series against England at Lords.
Muhammad Asif who previously appealed along with Butt and Aamir finally decided to withdraw his application from the court and therefore will not attend the upcoming hearing.

Faisalabad: Recruitment for constables, 1 died in running test
Six young men fell unconscious while appearing in a running test for the post of police constables while one of them died on his way to hospital.
At least 35,000 candidates submitted their application for 260 posts of constables in which 11,000 candidates were short listed for physical test. Six candidates fell unconscious during the running test in which they had to complete distance of 1 mile in one minute. A candidate Hafeezullah, a resident of Jaranwala, died before reaching hospital. Candidates were of the view that proper facilities were not provided to them due to which they faced difficulties.
