Geetha Arts & KWAN join hands to start Entertainment Marketing Agency
One of the leading production houses down south – Geetha Arts are now partners with KWAN, India’s premier entertainment and marketing company to form Artist Alliance -India’s first ever entertainment marketing firm focused on South Indian cinema. Floated by two of the biggest names in the entertainment business, Artist Alliance will replicate KWAN’s business model in Southern Cinema working in the areas of celebrity management, movie marketing, in-film placements, casting, television and event sponsorships.
The clients managed by Artists Alliance (KWAN + Geetha Arts jointly) already include Suriya, Ram Charan Teja, Allu Arjun, Simbu, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shruti Haasan and Kajal Aggarwal. The management of the South careers of a few more Bollywood celebrities is also in the pipeline and the associations will be announced soon.
Speaking about the JV, Anirban Das Blah, MD KWAN says, “Markets like TN and AP are large enough as economies to be among the top 75 countries in the world on a standalone basis. They also have a distinct cultural and linguistic identity that doesn’t adhere to the one-size-fits-all approach that most brands follow. Artist Alliance and our partnership with Geetha Arts allows brands to reach to consumers across the fast growing markets in the South more effectively than ever before. For a brand looking at leadership in the South, Artist Alliance is not just the best option, it’s the ONLY option”.
Allu Sirish, President, Geetha Arts reiterates this mutually beneficial partnership and says, “South Indians are one of the most avid and intense consumers of entertainment. Despite that, because of the unorganized functioning of the industry, the brand endorsement market is nowhere close to capping its best potential. Artist Alliance is here to help brands and marketers navigate through this new space. Marketers need an agency that can understand, appreciate and leverage local sensibilities followed by flawless execution in order to add the magic of movies and entertainment to their campaigns. It helped that we as an organisation, share a similar vision and ideology as that of KWAN and the JV was a natural result of it. In fact, we decided on the JV in one single meeting itself – we were that much in sync. What most brands miss is that beyond the top two-three towns in each state, people don’t watch Bollywood content. It’s essential to connect with consumers on an intrinsic level by speaking their language, knowing their customs etc. Since the present market is going to grow multiple folds in the coming years, Artist Alliance is the first and largest player in this space.”
Chinese-American actor Tom Wu to star in Ra.One

Apart from Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal, Anubhav Sinha’s sci-fi extravaganza Ra.One will also star Chinese-American actor Tom Wu. SRK even tweeted recently about Tom joining the cast of his home production. Said the superstar, “a big welcome to Tom Wu in the film cast. He is so humble & such a sport…really nice to have him on board.”
For the uninitiated, Tom Wu is a martial arts expert who has starred in films like Revolver, Shanghai Knights and Batman Begins. Considering that Ra.One also has its fair share of heavy duty action, one can be rest assured of seeing Tom Wu kick some butt in this flick too.

Rahman re-schedules North American leg of his Jai Ho series of concerts
After some super-successful shows in New York, New Jersey and Washington DC, Academy Award Winner A.R. Rahman was forced to cancel his show scheduled to take place on June 19 at Detroit following an infrastructure collapse at The Pontiac Silverdome. The incident occurred during stage construction prior to the show and fortunately no one was seriously injured. However, the sad news is that following this freak incident, Rahman has decided to re-schedule the North American leg of his Jai Ho- The Journey Home series of concerts.
Says the acclaimed music director, “As you may know, members of our tour miraculously escaped a big disaster in Detroit this past Saturday, when part of the Pontiac Silverdome infrastructure collapsed on our set. All the artists, singers, musicians, dancers, technicians (myself included) have been almost given a second life. We are working to recoup all that has been lost (the lights, the sets) which will take us over three weeks to complete. The vision for the show includes beautiful choreography and circus acts and it feels less than, not to include them. All the world over, the show has received a very positive response from those who have seen it, which makes it absolutely necessary for us to present a complete show and feature all the components that were lost due to the incident.”
Rahman adds, “With that, we have decided to postpone the remaining dates of the North American leg of this tour and will reschedule them at a later date. We will go ahead with the concerts scheduled in Europe and UK. That is the best option we have, considering the circumstances.”
He also had a word of consolation for his fans in US and Canada who have been eagerly waiting to see him perform live. Says Rahman, “While I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused our friends in the U.S. and Canada, maybe it’s a blessing in disguise, as we will have the opportunity to perform for you with even more energy and perfection. Once again, let us all pray that we are alive and thank you in advance for your understanding, love and cooperation.”
Rahman’s world tour will now resume in Zurich on July 16 followed by a string of concerts across UK and Europe.

LOS ANGELES: James Cameron confirmed plans to release his record breaking “Titanic” in 3D.
3D has become so popular that fans can now even say that they’ve seen the Titanic sink in 3D. Hollywood.com reports that director James Cameron has confirmed earlier rumors that the record breaking 1997 Oscar winning film is all set to sail into theatres for a second time in 3D format.
Although Cameron can confirm the news, fans shouldn’t expect the film to be re-released until 2012. Cameron has chosen this year in order to honor the 100 year anniversary of the ship’s sinking in 1912.
Furthermore, the director also confirms plans to re-release his latest film Avatar by the end of the year. The film was recently shut out of IMAX theatres in order to make room for the release of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. Some believe that nearly a hundred million more dollars could have been made if the film remained in theatres. In order to re-attract audiences, the new version will likely include never before seen footage.
Avatar recently became the biggest-selling film in history when it surpassed the previous record held by Titanic.

Nodar Kumaritashvili Autopsy
‘Nodar kumaritashvili autopsy Death Crash updates :- The winter Olympian who was killed during practice for the luge in Vancouver told his father that he feared the track was dangerous.
Nodar Kumaritashvili’s father, David Kumaritashvili, said his son expressed his concerns in a phonecall before the fatal run on Friday in which he lost control of his sled and slammed into a trackside steel pole at nearly 90 mph.
“He called me before the Olympics, three days ago, and he said, ‘Dad, I’m scared of one of the turns,’” Kumaritashvili said in an interview at his home in the small town of Bakuriani, Georgia.
“I said, ‘Put your legs down on the ice to slow down, but he said if he started the course he would finish it … he was brave.”
Olympic and International Luge Federation (FIL) officials conducted investigations into the ice track but found it was not remotely at fault, with both bodies saying the sole cause of death was “pilot error”.
However, they made alterations to the track for the event that finished last night, shortening the run, altering the angle of the ice at corner 16 and raising the ice wall in front of the metal girder that Kumaritashvili’s body had struck.
The FIL said the changes were done “to deal with the emotional components of the athletes, to alleviate, as best as possible, the traumatic experience of this tragic event”.
The incident sparked a debate about safety standards among competitors, officials and even politicians, which overshadowed the competition at the Whistler Sliding Centre.
Mikheil Saakashvili, the President of Georgia, said: “no sports mistake is supposed to be fatal,” while Ron Rossi, the executive director of the US Luge Association, has expressed his intention to table proposals for change.
Germany won gold and silver in the event through Felix Loch and David Moeller respectively, with Armin Zoeggeler, the defending champion from Italy, claiming third. The competitors wore a black stripe on their helmets as a sign of respect to Kumaritashvili.

Southwest Airlines Kevin Smith
Director Kevin Smith Kicked Off Southwest Flight for ‘Being Fat’ :- Southwest Airlines is under fire after director Kevin Smith was kicked off a recent flight for being overweight.
The “Clerks,” “Mallrats” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” director was ordered off a flight from Oakland to Burbank Saturday. The pilot reportedly said Smith was a “safety risk” because he was unable to put down the armrest.
Smith, 39, responded with a barrage of profanity-laced Twitter posts, saying he was treated worse than a terrorist.
Southwest apologized to Smith on Twitter and issued a statement on its blog, under the title, “Not So Silent Bob.” The airline said Smith had purchased two tickets, as he often does, but when Smith decided to fly earlier on standby, only one seat was available, and he was told to get off the plane after he was already seated.
The incident has prompted the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance to call for a boycott of Southwest. The group issued a statement urging “people of size to seek out and travel airlines that do not have such discriminatory policies.”
“You (messed) with the wrong sedentary processed-foods eater!” tweeted Smith, whose next film, “Cop Out,” opens Feb. 26.
