ac38151ccakeeper my sister s keeperThe final installment in the Shrek series, Shrek Forever After, hits theaters today, May 21st.

The ensemble cast welcomes back the vocal talents of Mike Myers (Austin Powers, Wayne’s World), Cameron Diaz (My Sister’s Keeper, The Holiday), Eddie Murphy (Beverly Hills Cop, Doctor Dolittle), and Antonio Banderas (Desperado), as well as newbie Jon Hamm of Mad Men fame. In fact, the fourth Shrek film features the same writers, cast and crew as the previous three animated films, a rarity in any film sequence these days. The film premiered to rave reviews by critics and viewers alike.

The plot, per IMDB, finds Shrek in an alternate universe after making a pact with Rumpelstiltskin to leave his domestic life and “feel like a real ogre again.” Naturally things go awry, and Shrek has to find his way back to his one true love, Princess Fiona.

While I’ve yet to see the film (such is the life of a new parent), I feel confident it will follow on the heels of it’s predecessors and be a big hit!
