The white iPhone 4 will be available in the United States, United Kingdom and 26 other countries for US $199 to US $299 depending on the model.
Apple Inc. said that the prices are for phones purchased with a two-year contract from AT&T Inc. or Verizon Wireless in the United States. The black iPhone 4 went on sale last June.
Initially Apple had hoped to make the white phones available in July. After a delay, Apple announced the availability in late 2010 but later admitted that the production of the gadget was more challenging than expected. In October 2010, Apple said that the white iPhone would be available in the spring.
Katrina’s plans to attend Raajneeti celebration foiled and aborted

Katrina Kaif’s plans to fly down to Mumbai for a day to celebrate the Raajneeti success on June 23 from Spain where she is shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara have been dropped.
Apparently, inclement weather has made it impossible for her to be let off for even a day. Setting aside her habitual work-comes-first-party-later attitude, she even requested the film’s producers and director to accommodate her absence for less than day.
Says a source close to Katrina, “Since Prakash Jha was very, very keen to have her down to Mumbai for the bash, and had even made all the arrangements for her flight, Katrina was not willing to give up the idea of attending the function. She offered to be back in less than 24 hours. Katrina was willing to fly to Mumbai, attend the Raajneeti bash on Wednesday and fly out quickly the same night to re-join the Dobara team the next morning. But she is not allowed.”
The Raajneeti team has a lot to celebrate about. But Prakash Jha wanted no celebration until his lucky mascot Katrina Kaif was available. Unfortunately, Zoya Akhtar’s crew has been facing rough weather ever since they arrived in Spain. Apparently, 6 days of shooting had to be cancelled because of heavy rains. And now they need to make up for lost time quickly since their work permits and visas would expire.
Prakash Jha admits that Katrina would be unable to make it to the Raajneeti celebration party on June 23. “They’ve lost a lot of time because of the rain in Spain. I couldn’t dream of having a Raajneeti bash without Katrina. And I had postponed it until her availability. But now it’s impossible for Katrina to fly down.”
Prakash will now record a video message with Katrina and play it at the party. “So she will be with us in spirit if not in person,” he smirks.
Katrina on the other hand tried to sound diplomatic and non-disappointed. “It is a big day. And the success of Raajneeti is very precious to me. But I can’t leave the crew in Spain.”
She admits there’re lots of unscheduled breaks. Katrina has got one of her sister Melissa to join her in Spain to give her company at break time.
Says Katrina, “London is just two hours, so Melissa could join me. Mumbai is in another hemisphere. Flying down is impossible. Please tell Prakashji, Mera party baqi raha.”
Preparations finalized for by-polls
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has supplied polling bags containing ballot papers and other required material to all 753 Presiding Officers of Faisalabad, Vehari and Muzaffargarh districts for conducting fair, free and impartial by-elections on four seats of the National and Provincial Assemblies on May 15.
Provincial Election Commissioner Akhtar Hussain Sabir told APP here Friday that the elections staff which includes Presiding Officers, Assistant Presiding Officers and Polling Officers had already been imparted necessary training for conducting polling at their respective stations.
Giving details of by-elections, he said that a total of 288 polling stations had been established in NA-167 Vehari for 363,091 registered voters. While 252 polling stations in NA-178 Vehari for 283,623 voters, 103 polling stations in PP-259 Vehari for 122,142 voters and 110 polling stations in PP-63 Faisalabad for 119,445 voters.
He said all returning officers had already been asked to ensure the availability of polling bags to all presiding officers well in time to facilitate on time polling. He said Pakistan rangers would assist the local adminstration, police and election staff for maintaining a peaceful and congenial atmosphere at all polling stations in Vehari and Muzaffargarh districts.
The returning officer, Faisalabad, has not requested for the deployment of rangers as he is satisfied with the foolproof security arrangements made by DCO Saeed Iqbal Wahlah and will be depending on the local administration and police for holding of fair and free by-polls.

Disney Aims To Shorten Big-Screen Run For Alice

LOS ANGELES: Bob Iger wasn’t bluffing. The Disney CEO has been telling Wall Street for months of his plans for studio executives to shorten traditional movie release schedules, and it appears the time has arrived for the first grand experiment.
A day after the revelation that UK exhibitors are being asked to accept a tightened theatrical window for Disney’s spring feature “Alice in Wonderland,” The Hollywood Reporter has learned that U.S. theater owners have been similarly approached.
Normally, movies play in first-run theaters for up to 16 weeks. Disney is talking about a theatrical run of just under 13 weeks for “Alice,” a 3D motion-capture/live-action fantasy directed by Tim Burton and starring Johnny Depp.
The studio would benefit from truncating the theatrical run because the movie, with its family-friendly subject matter and well-known cast, is well positioned to do big success as a home entertainment title. The quicker Disney can get it into DVD and Blu-ray Disc release, the better for its bottom line.
It’s likely that Disney also will accelerate the availability of “Alice” on video-on-demand, which home-entertainment executives have come to view as less of a threat to DVD/Blu-ray income and more as a complementary revenue stream.
Exhibitors have made it clear that they need a compensating upside from the moves. Less clear is how the studio will provide such a benefit, but film-rental terms are always subject to some negotiating.
These days, most releases come with “aggregate” terms. In such cases, distributors and exhibitors agree to split box office by a set percentage of a film’s entire run, with up to 55 percent going into studio coffers on pricey high-profile releases. But on some pictures, studios still pencil in a growing share for exhibitors during the course of a run.
It’s possible that Disney will use such an approach to offer a sweeter-than-usual early taste of the receipts for theater owners in exchange for their agreeing to book the film for a truncated theatrical run.
In any event, exhibitors are getting assurances that Disney will proceed cautiously in broadening its experiment to future movie releases.
Disney’s sales job in the U.K., where it sought to lop as much as five weeks from its regional run, was a bit easier. European theater owners know the theatrical market will be squeezed greatly when the soccer World Cup kicks off in June.
Meanwhile, another benefit of the shorter theatrical run for “Alice” — set to unspool worldwide March 5 in a combination of 2D and 3D venues — would be its freeing up 3D screens for other extra-dimensional features, including Warner Bros.’ April 2 release “Clash of the Titans.”
For Iger, who’s been trying to reinvigorate the Disney film studio through a major executive shuffle, changes to traditional release windows simply are a matter of maximizing studio profits. As recently as Tuesday, the Disney topper mused during an earnings conference that window experiments might be a way of improving the studio’s bottom line.

Rooney misses Bolton match, Van der Sar back in starting XI
Wayne Rooney will miss Manchester United`s game against Bolton Wanderers due to a calf strain while Edwin van der Sar returns to the starting line up.
Man United boss Alex Ferguson confirmed on Friday that England striker Rooney will miss Saturday`s match against Bolton and admitted he also had doubts over his availability for the Reds’ Champions League fixture against CSKA Moscow, next Tuesday.
`Rooney’s out – that’s the one certainty,` Fergie said. `We’re doing our best to get him fit for Wednesday but I’ve got my doubts.
`Wayne has a calf injury and they can be troublesome. I certainly hope he’ll be fit for Liverpool (next Sunday). Because it’s a calf strain we know how difficult these things can be. We won’t be taking any chances in Moscow.`
Ferguson also received good news from his medical staff: Edwin van der Sar has recovered from his hand injury and is able to play against Bolton tomorrow. ( Live Scores Soccer )
The Dutch goalkeeper made his comeback on October 6th with the reserves in a match against Everton.
`Edwin’s fit and he plays tomorrow. He had a Reserves game about 10 days ago and came through that fine.
`He`s trained for quite a while now but because it was a hand injury, you don`t take any chances.`
The game he had in the Reserves was that confidence booster he needed. Now he’s fit, he’s fine and he’ll play against Bolton.`
Besides the absence of Rooney there may be two other players who`ll miss the North-West derby: Dimitar Berbatov is yet to return from Bulgaria, where his girlfriend gave birth this week while midfielder Darren Fletcher picked up an injury on international duty with Scotland. ( Live Scores Soccer )
`I think everyone else is okay,` Sir Alex said. `There are one or two bumps and bruises but nothing serious. And after the disappointment of Sunderland, this is an important game for us.` Source
