ISLAMABAD: The National Institute of Health (NIH) has confirmed that five new cases of polio have surfaced in Pakistan.
Out of these cases, four are from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and one from Sindh.
In Sindh, polio has been detected in a three-year-old girl from Ghotki. As a result, the number of people suffering from the polio virus in Sindh has risen to 22.
According to the NIH, so far 123 cases of polio virus have been confirmed in the current year, which is a new record in eight years.
Owing to the alarming situation of polio in Pakistan, President Asif Ali Zardari will announce a new emergency plan on December 8. Trend Pk

GHOTKI: A three year old girl has been tested positive for polio in Ghotki on Thursday.
During a meeting headed by DCO Abdul Aziz Uqaili, it has been told that polio has been detected in three year old girl, Subhana, in a nearby village of Ghotki.
Till date, total nine complains have been received about the polio victim children of Ghotki and its outskirts.
The meeting decided to launch a three days anti-polio campaign from November 8 to 10. Trend Pk

KARACHI: After dengue, Congo virus has been detected in two patients at a private hospital in Karachi on Thursday.
According to sources, so far 29 patients of Congo virus have been reported across the country.
Source close to the Sindh Health Department told Trend Pk that two Congo virus patients have been admitted to a private hospital.
A special Congo ward has also been set up in the same hospital, sparking fear among staff and other patients.
Sources say that the hospital is trying to hide the information about the patients’ condition.

5000 dengue cases reported across country
As many as 5000 cases of dengue virus have been confirmed across the whole country; where as 27 people have so far lost their lives due to this virus, according to National Health Department.
According to the report of the department, as many as 1556 cases have been rep[orted in Lahore only while 155 cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5 in Azad Jammu Kashmir and 3371 cases in Sindh have been confirmed so far. the death toll due to this fast spreading virus has now reached 35.
Maximum people affected from this virus in Punjab are registered in Lahore. Dengue Surveillance Cell in Sindh is being extended and it is being associated with Sindh Blood Transfusion Authority. According to the health department Punjab, total number of Dengue patients has increased to 690.
In Faisalabad, 8 cases of Dengue virus have been detected and collectively 850 cases of Dengue virus from all over Punjab have been confirmed so far.
