A California man Brett Enright smashed the record for the world s biggest burger, creating one that weighed in at 777 pounds, including bun, cheese and condiments.

Brett Enright came up with the idea in December to make the world’s largest burger. He found that the previous record for the biggest burger was at 590 pounds so he teamed up for the record-breaking burger burn at the county fair. It took the team around 15 hours to cook 777 pounds burger.

Bystanders paid 99 cents for a taste, with proceeds going to the Alameda County Community Food Bank.

5e2f5134srk1 Did YRF first offer Ek Tha Tiger to Shah Rukh Khan?

Yash Raj Films probably made one of the biggest announcements last week when they signed Salman Khan along with Katrina Kaif for Kabir Khan’s directorial venture Ek Tha Tiger. The news was indeed big as it is the first time Salman is working with Yash Raj Films.

However, not many people know that the same film had earlier been offered to YRF favourite and Salman’s rival Shah Rukh Khan who unfortunately couldn’t take it up due to date issues. King Khan in a recent interview has confirmed the same and has said that he doesn’t have any regrets that YRF have now gone ahead and signed Salman for the project. However, it remains to be seen if Sallu was aware of this fact before signing the project.

Britney Spears and Rihanna are the latest to team up for a remix. Then again they are currently two of the biggest pop stars in the world. They have done a remix of Rihanna’s latest hit single “S&M”.

185e21a8ritney riri Britney Spears and Rihanna Team Up For a RemixBoth Britney and Rihanna engaged in some Twitter teasing over the weekend. Rihanna began with Tweeting;

“I got a #SEXY collabo comin your way supa dupa soon!!!! OH YEAH!!! By popular demand….”

She followed her own Tweet with, “Its BRITNEY BITCH!!!!”

Britney responded with, “You’re such a tease! I like it, like it …” then with, “You think they’re ready Ri Ri?”

Britney has added her own voice to the chorus and she also offers up an all-new verse, in which she breathlessly moans about her own bad girl ways.

Apparently “Umbrella” was actually originally written for Britney Spears, but she turned it down! The song turned out to be Rihanna’s biggest single and one of (if not the) hottest song that year. If it’s true she’s clearly not holding any grudges.

Teen star Steinfeld shows new `Grit” in debut role

LOS ANGELES: John Wayne”s original “True Grit” was a vehicle for a worldly wise actor in his 60s in another gruff Old West role he long since had perfected.

963dffa026170 l.gif Teen star Steinfeld shows new `Grit” in debut roleThe new take on “True Grit” is a star-making showcase for Hailee Steinfeld in her screen debut as Mattie Ross, the 14-year-old who sets the violent story of retribution in motion.

Wayne”s main trail buddy was Kim Darby, who was in her early 20s when she played Mattie in 1969”s “True Grit,” based on Charles Portis” novel. Joel and Ethan Coen”s version, opening Wednesday, more faithfully adapts Portis” story, with Steinfeld”s Mattie pulling a team of veteran actors in her wake, including Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, Josh Brolin and Barry Pepper.

Steinfeld, who just turned 14, earned a supporting-actress nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Awards for “True Grit,” and she has buzz for the same honor at the Academy Awards.

Is she practicing her Oscar speech?

“No-o-o-o, not yet. I mean, honestly, just to be a part of it, that”s the biggest award I could get right now,” she said in an interview.

“It is so surreal. Recently, when I saw the film for the first time, just as the credits started rolling, I thought back immediately to the day I was sitting on the floor in my bedroom just waiting for the phone to ring, thinking to myself … whoever gets this job, it”s like winning the lottery. And now I see this film put together, and it”s just so incredible. I”m so proud of it.”

Her character is a force of nature, a 19th-century pioneer teen with a fierce puritanical streak who hires ornery lawman Rooster Cogburn (Bridges) to hunt down her father”s murderer (Brolin), with Damon a preening Texas Ranger joining the search.

The flowery rhythms of Portis” dialogue, delivered with almost Shakespearean flourish, were tough enough for the seasoned actors, let alone a newcomer who had acted only in student films, commercials and a couple of small TV roles.

Casting directors traveled the country for months, looking at thousands of girls, and the Coens met with a handful of the best.

“They”re all 14-year-old girls, and predictably, they”re all terrible. Not all, but 99-point-whatever percent,” Ethan Coen said.

Mattie was an especially hard role, requiring an inexperienced actress to convey her “very adult, very self-possessed, very stiff-necked Protestant sensibility,” Ethan Coen said. “You think, boy, that whole adult self-possession and the acting chops, maybe that doesn”t exist in a real 14-year-old girl.”

A few weeks before shooting started, they found Steinfeld, who lived in Los Angeles. The Coens auditioned her opposite Bridges and Pepper, who plays another outlaw Mattie encounters.

Just as Mattie was fully formed at 14, they found Steinfeld had maturity and instincts beyond her years.

“She”s totally unintimidated coming into this room with Jeff Bridges and Barry Pepper and doing these scenes,” Joel Coen said. “It”s not a question of experience or training or any of the rest of it. Either you”ve got it or you don”t, sort of genetically, naturally, whatever it happens to be.”

Bridges spends almost the entire movie in Steinfeld”s company, but any worries he had about his young co-star quickly vanished.

“I was concerned right up to the first day we shot a big dialogue scene, and then I saw how invested she was in the character, how much talent and skill she had as an actress,” Bridges said. “I was so thrilled and relieved.”

Brolin, whose breakout role came in the Coens” “No Country for Old Men,” said his own daughter auditioned to play Mattie. But there were no hard feelings when she got a look at who had won the role.

“I remember when my daughter came on the set and met Hailee, and she goes, `Oh my God! She”s perfect!”” Brolin said.

Steinfeld decided at age 8 she wanted to try acting, inspired by a cousin who was doing commercials and a friend who was in a stage play. She raised the idea with her father, a personal fitness trainer, and mother, an interior designer. Her parents insisted that she study acting for a full year to make sure she was serious.

Then she got an agent and started trying out for roles. Like many actors, child or adult, she spent years auditioning with little to show for it.

“The most frustrating part was, I would get very close to booking things, and the biggest thing that was held against me was I was always too green,” Steinfeld said. “I would be up against girls who had been acting since they could speak.

“That was frustrating, because I was thinking to myself, ”I must not be that bad if I”m getting that close, but I”m not getting it.” So I hit that point where I definitely became a little bit more serious about it. … And then, after that, things started to change.”

Once Steinfeld landed the “True Grit” role, the Coens treated her the same way they did the rest of the cast, making no note of her precocious talent, Damon said.

“It was almost like, don”t talk about the fact that this person next to you is levitating. Don”t make a big deal out of it. We”re not even going to acknowledge that it”s happening. Then at the end, you go …, `That girl was flying!”” Damon said.

Pepper marveled at Steinfeld”s stamina as they shot in the cold mountains near Santa Fe, N.M., “and she”s being dragged through rivers, and she”s got my cold leather boot on her neck, and she”s getting tossed around and shot at. I just thought, ”This is remarkable, the poise and the professionalism of this young woman.” She”s just off to the races. She showed true grit in a lot of different ways, because she took everything the brothers threw at her,” Pepper said.

Steinfeld is looking for her next film role. The acclaim she”s earning for “True Grit” should help, but she”s not fretting too much about where her career is headed.

“Don”t get me wrong. I don”t take this too seriously. I have fun with it,” Steinfeld said. “My parents always tell me, ”If you”re not having fun, you”re not in the right place.” And there”s not a moment in this, in everything, that I”m not having fun.”

Foreign moviegoers rescue ailing ‘Narnia’

ef407019d5716 l.gif Foreign moviegoers rescue ailing ‘Narnia’LOS ANGELES: The third movie in the shaky “Narnia” fantasy franchise took the top spot at the worldwide box office on Sunday despite a soft start in North America where it overshadowed “The Tourist,” the new bomb starring Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.

“The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader” sold $105.5 million worth of tickets globally, distributor 20th Century Fox said.

But moviegoers in the United States and Canada contributed just $24.5 million during its first three days. Industry pundits had predicted a $30 million to $40 million start for the third adaptation of C.S. Lewis” Christian-themed books.

The News Corp-owned studio said the film was No. 1 in at least 32 of its 56 overseas markets. Top contributors to the $81 million haul included Russia ($11.3 million) and Mexico ($7.5 million).

“The Tourist,” starring Jolie and Depp as a mismatched pair cavorting around Venice, debuted at No. 2 in North America with $17 million — short of muted forecasts in the $20 million range. Internationally, it earned $8 million from a handful of markets, led by Korea ($3 million, No. 2) and Britain ($2.2 million, No. 3)

Both films were lambasted by critics, and both carried hefty price tags — $150 million and $100 million, respectively — requiring strong overseas sales to make them profitable. The two previous “Chronicles of Narnia” films did most of their business overseas, where Depp and Jolie are also more popular.

The previous “Narnia” film almost sank the franchise. “Prince Caspian” opened to $55 million in 2008 on its way to a weak total of $142 million. The overseas haul was $278 million. Its predecessor, “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” ended up with $292 million in North America after a $66 million debut. Foreign fans kicked in an additional $453 million.

Fox took over the series after Walt Disney Co dropped it in the wake of the “Caspian” flop. The films are produced by family-friendly film company Walden Media, which is owned by billionaire Philip Anschutz.

Fox said it succeeded in its aim of resurrecting the franchise, and was “excited” about its overall prospects.

“The Tourist” marks the worst start in years for its high-profile stars. Jolie”s last big flop was “A Mighty Heart,” which opened to $3.9 million in 2007. Depp has to go back to 2001 for a worse performance: “From Hell,” with $11 million.

Jolie was in theaters a few months ago with “Salt,” whose so-so domestic total of $118 million (including a $36 million opening) was boosted by foreign sales of $175 million.

Depp starred in one of the biggest movies of the year, “Alice in Wonderland,” which grossed more than $1 billion worldwide, two-thirds coming from overseas.

The new film also did worse than a recent pair of unloved matchups between big stars, “The Bounty Hunter,” with Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler ($21 million); and “Knight and Day,” with Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz ($20 million). They finished with $67 million and $76 million, respectively, in North America. “Bounty Hunter” made a similar amount overseas, while “Knight and Day” earned $185 million internationally.

“The Tourist” was distributed by Sony Corp”s Columbia Pictures, which has limited financial exposure. The studio is receiving a distribution fee from Oscar-winning producer Graham King (“The Departed”), who arranged financing himself.

Last weekend”s North American champion, the Disney cartoon “Tangled,” slipped to No. 3 with $14.6 million. Its total rose to $115.6 million after three weekends. Foreign sales stand at $77 million from 17 markets.

Perhaps the biggest splash in the top 10 was made by the smallest movie. “Black Swan” jumped seven places to No. 6 with $3.3 million from just 90 theaters in its second weekend. The ballet thriller, starring Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, is among the dozens of films vying for awards-season attention. It was distributed by Fox Searchlight, the arthouse arm of 20th Century Fox.
