US worries about repeat of Mumbai attacks: Mullen

WASHINGTON: The US military”s top-ranking officer said Thursday he feared extremists might launch another attack on India, similar to the 2008 rampage in Mumbai, in a bid to spark a war with arch-rival Pakistan.
Speaking to reporters on board his plane bound for New Delhi, Admiral Mike Mullen praised India for showing restraint in the aftermath of the bloody November 2008 attacks that left 166 dead.
“I”ve worried a great deal about a repeat attack, of something like that,” Mullen said. The admiral said he wanted “to focus on making sure this doesn”t happen again”.
UN slams Kyrgyzstan violence, urges calm

UNITED NATIONS: The UN Security Council condemned Monday the bloody violence in restive Kyrgyzstan and pressed for a return to law and order along with a peaceful resolution of differences.
After being briefed on the latest developments in the central Asian republic, the council”s 15 ambassadors “condemned continued acts of violence” there and urged “calm, a return of rule of law and order and a peaceful resolution of differences,” Mexican Ambassador Claude Heller said.
Council members also stressed the need “to support the delivery of humanitarian assistance in an urgent manner.”
Israel to stop all aid ships reaching Gaza: defence official

JERUSALEM: Israel will prevent all aid ships from reaching Gaza, a defence official warned on Tuesday, as activists vowed a new attempt to run the blockade despite the bloody ending to its latest mission.
“We will not let any ships reach Gaza and supply what has become a terrorist base threatening the heart of Israel,” deputy defence minister Matan Vilnai told public radio.
