Mary Murphy struggles with body after thyroid surgery
TrendPK.com: Mary Murphy, enjoying her return to the “So You Think You Can Dance” judges’ table after a year away, would like to perform again herself. However, since surgery to remove a thyroid tumor in December, she candidly tells us, “My body has changed dramatically…I’m still navigating the whole hormonal change thing. I would still like to exit dancing, but I just don’t think it’s going to happen this season until we situate my hormones, you know?”
The champion dancer and choreographer, who successfully battled thyroid cancer while away from the show, points out that the thyroid regulates one’s metabolism, among other things. Thus, she reveals, “I cannot get my body. I’ve been working so hard. I’m fighting for it every day with a few hours of exercise — exercising like a crazy person, and nothing is happening with this body. I would love to come out at the finale and dance one more time to top it off, but I don’t think that will happen.”
Murphy is glad she was able to dance on Broadway last Fall in Burn the Floor, “and in my home town of San Diego. So, if I never get to dance again, you know, I ended it in a place where I felt really great, in my own home town.
“But I am going to really fight to dance at least one more time.”
Cigarette smoke causes immediate damage to lungs and DNA

Cigarette smoke causes immediate damage to a person’s lungs and DNA even in small amounts, including from second-hand smoke, U.S. researchers have said in a new report.
This report concludes that damage from tobacco smoke is immediate. The chemicals in the tobacco smoke reach your lungs very quickly every time you inhale. Your blood then carries toxicants to every organ in your body. And exposure to the tobacco smoke quickly damages the blood vessels throughout the body and makes your blood more likely to clot. The chemicals in the tobacco smoke damages the delicate lining of your lungs and can cause permanent damage, and that reduces your lung’s ability to exchange air efficiently. And that’s what causes the COP, or the chronic obstructive lung disease, which includes emphysema, U.S. Surgeon-General Dr. Regina Benjamin said at a conference.
Inhaling tobacco can also damage your DNA, which can lead to cancer, Dr. Benjamin said.
The report said tobacco companies deliberately designed cigarettes and other tobacco products to be addictive and that they released new products that are portrayed as safer but that are in fact just as dangerous and addictive.
But quitting smoking can allow a person to recover from at least some of the damage.
Jellyfish cells can help in diagnosing cancer: Scientists
The research of scientists and health experts reveals that luminous cells from jellyfish can be used to diagnose cancers deep inside the body.
The process uses the green fluorescent protein (GFP) enabling jellyfish to glow in the dark. Researchers have found it can be targeted at cancer cells, allowing them to be spotted using a special camera. We have developed is a process which involves inserting proteins derived from luminous jellyfish cells into human cancer cells. Then, when we illuminate the tissue, a special camera detects these proteins as they light up, indicating where the tumours are, a lead professor explained. A United States company is the only one which has so far designed and built a camera system which allows the jellyfish proteins to be seen with the desired resolution so deep in the body.

LONDON — The Sunday newspapers blasted Robert Green for the goalkeeping blunder that cost England a victory in the opening World Cup game against the United States.
The weekly press printed frame-by-frame images of Green’s error, with the front pages of the News of the World and the Sunday Mirror both reading “Hand of Clod”, accompanied by a giant picture of Green.
Any England goalkeeper guilty of a clanger is given merciless treatment by the national newspapers, with international careers usually then brought to a shuddering halt.
David Seaman, David James, Paul Robinson and Scott Carson can all testify to that.
Green was not spared.
“Cock-up keeper Green wrecks dream start,” said the News of the World, adding: “Stars and tripe”.
“It’s back to the drawing board after this, with Capello forced to reconsider his options after Green’s mistake.”
“Tainted Glove”, said the Sunday Mirror. “Worst Howler Ever”, said another headline.
“Calamity keeper Robert Green gifted one of the all-time blunder goals last night as the jinx of the England goalies struck again.
“Hapless Green somehow managed to parry the softest of soft strikes into the goal behind him. It was agonising to watch.”
The editorial said: “Poor Robert Green will take a long, long time to live down the goal.”
The Sunday Express meanwhile said of Green that “for all our sakes, he’s got to go – now.”
The Sunday Telegraph said Green’s howler had “cost England dear”.The official espn World Cup schedule will let you know when the games are happening and where! If you’re not on right now, then you missed out on the World Cup opening ceremony 2010 live via espn3

Veteran Carlos Condit probably lost the first too rounds to 20 year old Rory MacDonald but he poured it on the third and took the win when the ref stopped it with only 0:10 left.
For the second time of the evening, an up and coming newcomer faced a proven veteran. This time the babyface was Rory MacDonald and the established fighter was former WEC champ Carlos Condit and the division was the stacked welterweight class.
In the first, MacDonald walked Condit down quickly, then caught a kick and took Condit down. But then he stood up and invited Condit to join him. Then he landed a hard right hand and locked up a clinch. Condit landed a hard knee to the body so MacDonald took him right down. Condit used a variation of the rubber guard to control MacDonald on the ground. MacDonald bucked to pass but got nowhere. Then they got back to their feet. Condit then tagged MacDonald. But MacDonald answered with a hard counter punch and another take down.
Again Condit’s guard was totally effective at controlling the Canadian and he soon fought back to his feet. On the feet Rory scored up close with punches and knees. They traded kicks to the check. Condit landed a mean leg kick. And another. Then MacDonald ducked a punch and ended the round with a third take down to the delight of the Canadian crowd.
In the second, MacDonald claimed cage center again. Condit attempted a hip toss but botched it and MacDonald landed on top in half guard. Condit fought back to guard and then to his feet. But once again Rory landed with sharp punches. Then Condit reversed a MacDonald take down and had top position for the first time in the fight. He immediately worked to score with ground and pound. That
aggressiveness allowed MacDonald to reverse him. Once again Condit controlled MacDonald’s posture on the ground and fought back to his feet. MacDonald fired punches to the body. Condit ate a combo featuring uppercuts while Rory slipped his counters. They traded hard rights then Condit attacked with kicks. More stiff jabs were exchanged with MacDonald putting more salt on his. Condit got too aggressive at the end of the round with spinning attacks. Then he fired a straight kick and MacDonald caught him with a straight kick of his own and Condit fell.Carlos Condit finally woke up from his UFC stupor and lived up to his nickname of “Natural Born Killer” as he turned the tables on Rory. Condit unleashed a furry of elbows cutting MacDonald and mashing his nose. Heading into the final thirty seconds it appeared that the fight would end a draw with Rory winning rounds one and two 10-9 while round three was a clear 10-8 for Condit. But with seven seconds left the referee stepped in and called the fight for Condit.
