Wahga border parade not to change: DG Rangers

Director General of Pakistan Rangers Major General Yaqub Khan has said that the parade on the Wahga border would be continued with traditional zeal and fervor and no request has been received from India to change this traditional style, trendpk.Com reported on Saturday.

According to a press release by the Pakistan Rangers a six-monthly session of talks between the Border Security Force of India and Pakistan Rangers in which it was agreed by the two parties that the parade commanders would shake hands during the parade. DG Rangers further said that if India forwards any such request it would be given a consideration. He said that parade is the proud of a soldier and that the traditional style of the parade would be maintained and continued. He said that the media would be soon invited to the border so that it could witness itself that the traditional parade is continued.

Indian Border Security delegation meets Pak Rangers in Wahga

LAHORE: A delegation of Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) has reached Wahga to discuss border security matters with Pakistan Rangers.

According to details, a 16 member BSF delegation headed by Brigadier Ram Shiri Wastum reached Wahga Tuesday morning.

According to sources, during the meeting Pakistan Rangers will discuss border matters and release of prisoners from both sides, while raising the issue of unprovoked firing on the borders.

After arriving in Pakistan, the head of the Indian border security delegation, Brigadier Ram Shiri Wastum, said that Pakistan’s rangers are performing well.

He added that their delegation will raise the issue of smuggling and establishing check posts during the meeting. SAMAA

Iran denies report of seven US troops detained–TV

TEHRAN: Iran denied on Sunday that border guards had detained seven U.S. troops, calling the report “unfounded”, the state-run English language Press TV said.

The country’s Arabic language television al-Alam also quoted Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, in charge of Iran’s border security, as denying that any such incident had happened in the southeastern province of Sistan Baluchestan, as earlier reported by a semi-official news agency. AGENCIES

7c990806bdashmir 433 Infiltration Attempts into J&K in 2009Jammu: 433 Infiltration Attempts into J&K in 2009, Cross border infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir is on the rise with militants making 433 such attempts this year, nearly 90 more than last year.

As many as 106 militants infiltrated during these bids this year.

“A total of 433 infiltration attempts were made by the militants along the Line of Control and International Border in Jammu and Kashmir in 2009,” a senior police officer told agency here today.

Admitting that there has been a surge in infiltration, Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, Kuldeep Khoda told PTI that measures have been taken by security forces to foil these bids and said it is a matter area of concern at a time when violence has gone down in J&K.

As per police figures, 342 infiltration attempts were made from across the border in 2008, while 2007 and 2006 reported 535 and 573 such attempts along the LoC and IB in J&K.

General Officer Commanding (GoC), 16 Corps, Lt Gen Rameshwar Roy said, “In coming time, we will not allow them to be successful in infiltrating militants into this side as troops are keeping a close guard over LoC with best training and vigilance”.

The highest number of 1,373 infiltration bids took place in 2003 followed by 537 in 2004 and 597 in 2005.

An estimated 57 militants crossed over to this side in 2008 along LoC, followed by 311 militants in 2007 and 317 in 2006.

“We have strengthen the deployment along the International border, where infiltration bids have shot up.

Where we feel there is need for more forces, it is being addressed to on an urgent basis. The winter border management plan has been put in place”, Inspector general of Border Security Force (BSF), Jammu frontier, A K Sarolia had said.

As many as 41 infiltrating militants were killed this year as against 80 infiltrators last year along the LoC.

Three militants arrested

Three Hizbul Mujahideen militants have been arrested in the city, police said today.

The three identified as Rafiq Magray alias Aadil, Mohammad Ramzan alias Ibrahim and Iqbal Haroon alias Muzaffar were nabbed from Nowgam area of the city last night.

An AK 47 rifle and two grenades were recovered from their possession, police said, adding a case has been registered against them.
